I am finishing a quite big number of language exercises to run on Opus plexus pubs that I would like to use in a e-comerce website. Basically with a free tour of the contents, a login registration option and an the option of buying a number of hours to practise the exercises online. No downloads, but time restricted to the hours bought.
Can the main page for all these options done in Opus, like any other commercial website?
Or would be better doing it with other software, like dreamweaver, and then add all my content on it? I suppose all these requirements needs to use php or MySQL.
I am quite lost about that, even after reading thought the forum and manuals.

Hi Isma,

Yes, it can be done in Opus. We have a client that has dozens of activities that use an Opus login screen that communicates with a mySQL database using PHP. Though it is quite an advanced system that allows for different user types, trials, licence lengths as well as security to prevent simultaneous access - the list goes on. We've also just converted the login system and an activity to HTML5 and for web based development HTML5 wins hands down - BUT - Opus is a lot easier to build the foundations and as your activities are Plexus based, you can integrate the login / activity more cleanly.

Two things I'd suggest:

1. Find the biggest whiteboard and lots of different coloured markers and start drawing a mind map of everything that needs considering.

2. Don't be tempted to big one big solution - break things down into smaller parts - IE different PHP scripts for load / save / etc and different tables to store different data - IE activities in one, users in another.

Mack

Thanks Mack,

But does Interaktic provide this kind of service? Because in about 2- 3 months I am going to need this main page with login/ registration database and time control for users. I have no idea about php or databases.

There is a section at the bottom of this forum for commercial Opus support including ours: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2878
