Opus Pro 2.x

When I use a rotating object in a publication it uses 100% CPU.

Is this normal, or can I fix it?

Regards to list, I`m a new member,

Tom.

A high indicated CPU load doesn't mean anything if your PC is responding normally to user input.
In an Opus pub, it is normal for indicated CPU load to approach 100% when one or more objects are animated in some way.
Opus just uses resources available to it, it doesn't hog them.

Thanks Paul, but the problem is this.

Most of my program relies on rotation.
When the CPU is 100% PC temp goes to max.

Should I tell my users that using my program is likely to shorten the life of their computer??

Seems strange it runs perfect on a low spec & still needs 100% on my xp3200+ :-/

Tom.

Paul is correct. Opus will use whatever processor cycles are available to it to ensure that the animation runs as smoothly as possible. However, it will not prevent other applications from utilising the processor and you should not experience input delays or sluggishness when animations are taking place.

If you are concerned about your CPU temperature when it is running at 100% load, I would recommend looking at cooling solutions as it is quite common for Windows applications (particular games and multimedia applications) to cause CPU 'spikes' of 100%. Many video encoding programs use maximum CPU time for periods of several hours and this should not damage the processor in any way.

Kind regards,

Well I don`t know about that, but try running a looping Opus animation, then play a game of Spider Solitair & see how slowly the cards are dealt
;-) LOL

It wasn`t my system I was worried about having just spent too much on round cables, Gigabyte 3d cooler & nice PS. I was more worried about those who download & play with my program, as who knows how hot they might go :-/ If you`re sure they won`t catch fire `cause of me I`ll stop fretting.

Guess we just have to live with this, thanks for replies.

Best Regards,

Tom.
