Hello All,

I need some help with a problem I'm experiencing with Opus Pro 5. It's Installed on a Windows Xp Home machine with AMD processor. The "About" dialog does not display and the "Publication Properties" (among many others) does not display.(As an experiment, I installed on a VMPlayer Virtual machine on the same computer running XP Pro and every thing works fine !) I changed display resolutions , disabled some running programs and even started up in safe mode to no avail. If anyone has a fix for this or some advice about how to correct this problem,I would greatly appreciate the info.

Glad you tried some problem solving. There are many suggested ideas for this but rather than repeat what has already been said, I'd suggest you try searching the forum for 'greyed' as there are several dozen posts.

The key one that is always thrown out first is the Opus reset - simply hold the Control & Alt keys down when launching Opus and it'll erase all the registry data.

Okay, so process of elimination - if these aren't in the other posts, they may work:

1. resetting Opus defaults
2. loading Opus using a clean Windows user account
3. Running the EXE directly rather than through a shortcut or launcher.
4. Removing Opus completely and reinstalling
5. As above but run registry cleaner - at your own peril
6. Checking whether another Opus version works.
7. Disabling security software - again at your peril - do it off-line
8. Checking for viruses, malware etc.
9. Running system cleaners (ccleaner), free disk space cleaner or clear MFT records
10. Undoing any recent system changes.
11. Or use system restore to roll back to previous state

Regards,

Mack
