I'm using Opus Pr0 4.3 XE, and have noticed that quite often the left hand panel (objects, actions, etc.) of the main window doesn't display properly.

Usually bits and pieces seem to be missing, and artifacts remain in odd places.

I don't think it's a graphics card problem (Matrox Parhelia 256Mb, latest drivers, Direct X 9.0c, etc..)

Has anyone else experienced this?

Screen capture attached.

Chris

As I didn't get any replies on this subject, I'd like to resurrect it as the problem persists and is very irritating.

Basically, the icons and text in the Main palette don't draw properly, and I have to resize it to restore. Any further activity in the pallette causes it to fail to redraw properly again.

It's evident on both machines at home and at work (although admittedly the same video card is in use).

Has anyone noticed (or reported) similar effects in the past?

Could it be a graphics card problem? (The Parhelia 256 is pretty well apponited, but I've had other recent problems with starting Opus - see my other thread). This problem is evident with the latest (and previous) drivers.

Can anyone recommend any particular settings?

Chris

I suspect that this may be the case. I have received a couple of other reports of unusual error messages and glitches from users of Matrox Parhelia cards which I have been unable to reproduce on any of our test machines. These users have then swapped the Matrox card for an ATI/nVidia card and found that the problems instantly disappeared.

It appears that these problems only affect the editor and we have received no reports of problems running published executables on systems with this graphics card.

I have asked our development team to look into these issues, but as the Opus editor uses standard Win32 controls, this is more likely to be a Matrox driver issue. If we are unable to identify the cause of these problems, we will try to work with the Matrox developers to pinpoint what is triggering these glitches and ensure that this is rectified in the next update.

I hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.

Kind regards,

Thanks, Robin

I'll have to look at alternative cards, I suppose - don't want to, really, as these cost an arm and a leg!!

As a rider to this - I've noticed that this problem doesn't manifest itself at all in Opus v2.81.

I've also posted a message on the Matrox forum, but no feedback as such, yet.
