I'm about to buy a standalone touchscreen PC to run an Opus exe in an exhibition space.
Considering an HP mid range PC probably 22/23 inch
I will add the Opus exe to the Win 8 start-up folder- I know how to do that I think.
I'll have a 'secret' double-click hotspot to shut down to desktop at the end of each day.
I'll have my intro page running so it looks like a screen saver, inviting visitors to touch.

Can I assume I'll be able to prevent power saver sleep mode, or will Opus menu running an animation prevent that anyway?
Any caveats or useful tips?

thanks in advance
Mac

Our experience has been that we had to STOP any "Sleep Mode" or "Screen Saver" function. OPUS running a loop doesn't involve touching the keyboard, which is normally what will stop the screen saver from appearing. You need to turn OFF Power Savers/Screen Savers to keep your OPUS EXE always visible.

Having a "Hot Spot" to exit is a good idea. We included a Key Command (Like SHIFT, or CTRL) along with clicking on your secret Hot Spot. You will be shocked at what potential "Users" will do to try to exit your program. You need to make the EXIT very unique. IMHO clicking on a Hot Spit is too simple and easy to defeat.

Thanks for replying.
I suppose I need the vendor to confirm that the power saver can be disabled- hope it doesn't involve the bios!

the screen will have no keyboard or mouse attached. Maybe the attendant can bring a keyboard to the machine at the end of each day though.

I was thinking of something cunning like dragging a transparent object from one edge of the screen to another on the furthest edge, the drag and drop would triggger an action...

thnks again
cheers
Mac
