Someone suggested a free art programme to me. I think it was Larry. Can't find it.
Anyone help please?
I'm sick of Serif DrawPlus - too many variables
Kind regards

The alternativeto website is normally a brilliant place to find alternative software both free and commercial.

http://alternativeto.net/software/adobe-photoshop/

Hi Mac,

Yes Inkscape is the free alternative to Illustrator - but these are vector programs rather than bitmap like Photoshop although you can probably export / save as a bitmap file. Personally, my favourite vector application has always been Corel Draw and with DWs push into SVG for Opus 9, a worthwhile investment IMHO.

^^^^ that is one that comes up a lot --- for a draw application. Mack's right... check-out alternative-to site, and then iterate a few times through (start with corel draw or similar)

I think the only thing I might have suggested was more of photo handling. IrfanView.
And that does general tweaking of images... it typically is not used for pixel manipulation (since it does manage layers or masks ?), but it does have some crude bitmap editing capabilities via its F12 tool palette. (well, a little better than crude... but you get the idea).

OpusPro itself is quite useful for some degree of vector drawing. And you can make custom vector objects with the polygon manipulations (cutouts, etc).

Opus: Opus Pro v9.75
OS: Windows 10.?
System: HP xw660 Server 32GB RAM, Toshiba Satellite Laptop
Go with Inkscape and GIMP. I've used them both for several years now and have done some awesome things for photobooks that I give as presents for the family.
