Hi,

Has anyone found a way to paste Hindi into Opus without some characters being corrupted?

For instance:

अंतिम प्रवेश

Pasted into opus (in Mangal font) does not look the same - the glyphs are not converted correctly.

Help much appreciated - I've converting a a very long UK publication, and the alternative is to replace every font file with an image :(

Take with a pinch of salt as I might not be right, but:

Yes, you can use Hindi fonts but not Mangal. I'd hazard a guess that certain glyphs combine to form a particular character and although an application might support Unicode - it doesn't necessarily support these advanced formats. It's not just Opus.

That said, a Hindi legacy font such as KrutiDev should work instead. If the text is already in Mangal - you can get conversion tools and on-line sites that will map from one font to the other.

I'm also assuming your not using Opus HTML5 - as that will display Mangal correctly when published anyway.

Russell,

If you can get अंतिम प्रवेश pasted into a standard Opus Professional Pub, looking exactly like it's pasted here (change of font perfectly acceptable) I'll ... well I'll find you a nice html5 job as a reward!!!

If you're after an exact typeface match, then you'll have to find an image editor that uses Mangal but, and I don't read Hindi, if a character match is acceptable then KruitDev seems viable.

1. Choose a font: http://www.indiatyping.com/index.php/do ... t-krutidev

2. Copy, Paste and Convert: http://www.indiatyping.com/index.php/fo ... -converter

An Opus Flex publication of अंतिम प्रवेश:

Russell,

Can I marry you? :)

You've no idea what a breakthrough this is for us.

Now... I also need to make the programme in Urdu.

Here's a piece of Urdu in Arial Unicode.

آیئے حادثات کے بارے میں بات کریں

Can you devise a method for this?

And, joking aside, please bill me for your research time. You've saved me days.

I've sent you a link to something that might handle the Urdu convertion.

Mack

P.S the proposal doesn't seem very romantic - I'm the full dinner; wine and flowers and one knee kind of guy :-)

... sorry, I probably should have mentioned that I've been married almost 27 years.

I'll still find you a HTML5 job though ... :)
