Years ago (I think...) I could double-click on an object listed in the main listing on the left of the screen, and the Properties window would open.

Doing something else (double right-clicking?) would get the Actions window.

Now I have to right-click and select from a list.

Is there an option to go back to the old way?

Also, whilst it's awkward to open these objects, meanwhile if I inadvertently touch the word Timeline, it opens up immediately. Argghhh... so inconsistent.

And talking of inconsistent.... in my Actions list it always show the name of the object to which I'm applying the action... so "Show text 1", Fade text 2" etc. But if I use a "Change Text Colour" action it doesn't show the object name in the same way.

Hi Linda, it's always been like this as far as I know, since ILM 4.5 -- If you double-left click on an object in the workspace it brings up the Properties, or double-right click and it will bring up the Actions.

However in the Organiser (or workspace) you can select the object and CTRL-R for properties, or CTRL-E for actions. Does that shortcut help? ;)

I have peculiarities with Timelines too.. i.e. the Timeline seems to shift about in the Organiser attaching itself to different objects. (PS: I see what you mean about "Change Text Colour".)

Steve,

Yes, the shortcuts help, thanks.

Complaining of Timelines... if you delete it, it leaves a blank one open.

I rarely use timelines, but I'm just doing a quick multimedia for our company as a sales tool, so I thought I'd practice those things I don't normally use.

Thanks, Linda

The option you're looking for is "Single mouse click in Organizer window will open page view" on the General View preferences.
If you uncheck that option, everything will function as you are expecting.
This also prevents the automatic opening of the timeline and script views. You will now have to double click the item to edit it.

Noted.
