Yes - the Opus publication uses the QuickTime engine to display QuickTime VR objects, MOV video files and SWF files imported via the video object. If QuickTime is not installed on the end-user's system, these objects will appear blank when the publication is run.
I believe that the standalone installer for QuickTime is freely-distributable (although you may wish to double-check the licensing agreement on the QuickTime web site), so you could include this installer on your publication CD and perhaps add a configuration page containing a link to install QuickTime if a sample MOV file appears blank.
