I would like to stipulate the amount of time an exit page is shown conditionally, either for 5 seconds (normal exit) or without time limit until user hits Quit/ESC (forced exit with error messages).

The Properties -> General dialog "Show page for <so many> seconds" check box therefore isn't sufficient. How can I control the timing programmatically, through script? Thanks.

Linnet,

It seems that users still can't post attachments to this forum. A sample imp file can be found the following URL:
http://www.ezindex.com/autoplay/timed_exit.zip

The imp file in "timed_exit.zip" shows one way of exiting with a delay. It's not pretty but it seems to do the job. I don't know of any way you can disable the ESC and Alt+F4 keys in Publication Properties dialog and then use them to exit later.

If you only want to use a key press to exit the program remove the exit button on the Exit page and replace it with a text box.

Hi Leo

Thanks for that - as you say a little convoluted (I was hoping that there might be some as-yet undocumented sys variable!) but it does the trick.

(No need to disable ESC etc - these were just two exit modes using a normal thank you & see you again soon message for 5 seconds, or a dedicated error message displaying for as long as the user chooses.)

Linnet
