While I have informed DW about my problem and they seem to be working on it, I would just like to know if anyone else has had problems installing the evaluation copy and most importantly, if they have found a way of getting around the corrupt installation error which I am getting when launching the program. My mail david.moxon@neuf.fr. I am just wondering if one of you 'out there' has had any luck with this. If so, could you inform me and why not DW. I am a user of Presenter and Opus. My apologies to DW in advance for this post, but I am getting a little frustrated.

Thanks

We have been unable to replicate this issue but I have made some changes that may help. I will contact you directly next week when we are back at work (Monday is a Bank Holiday in the UK), with regard to the possibility trying this on your system.

Interesting. We have 'Memorial Day' holiday and you have a holiday too. It really is getting to be a world community.

Hi, I have the problem, also. From my emails back and forth with them, DW really seems to be working on the issue.

Ah, well you should move North for some decent weather then... having spent the Bank Holiday on the beach, I've got quite some sunburn to show for it!

I bet you still took your laptop with you though - didn't you?

Actually it only rained from 8.20 to 8.25 and then the heatwave set in again!

Damn, I knew someone would be watching. How else is a young girl with hoards of children supposed to keep up with work?

Actually, I had a much more amusing toy... I just got a Sony mp3 Walkman, the 20GB one.

It's down as a business expense... I'll be able to audition corporate music tracks on it

It's stunning... I now have to start collecting 13,000 songs to fill it up... my
earlier one held 40, so I've got a way to go!!!

Duncan Lilley has solved my installation problem of the evaluation version. The target path for the program (on the shortcut in Windows) ended in -proxe. It should have ended in -pro.

If you have problems with the installation of the evaluation version of Opus 5 Pro, and you are getting the 'installation corrupt' message, feel free to contact me for a better explanation of the 'solution' above.

Still don't know why I have been one of the very unlucky few (:

Duncan, I don't think that's the solution for me, is it?

If you think it is, can you please explain what I should do to check it?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike

Right click on the shortcut (icon) and select "Properties"
Check the box labeled "Target"

If it says something like "...\Opus.exe" -proxe

Change it to "...\Opus.exe" -pro

HTH

That does help, Chris - thanks so much!

On my shortcut, it read -default. I changed default to opus pro, and that did it.

Mike,

Glad we've finally got a solution for this; though I'm still at a loss as to why this works for most people and not for a very few.

Anyway, be aware that if you use the online upgrade feature (under the Help menu) to upgrade to Pro XE you will need to manually change the shortcut back to "default" or "proxe".

And before anyone asks, no - just changing the shortcut won't give you a different version - it will just give you the Installation Corrupt message (as David and Mike can attest!)
