Hi all,

This IO'd XE 5.0 Pub contains 13 "proof of concept" demo's developed while working on a pub for Junior High students, my usual target audience.

Install the Plexus (IO) plugin before you try to run the exe, unless you want the pub to insist on downloading it :-).

It gives some idea of what can be achieved working with NO external resources.
The only resource I normally use from outside Opus is sound -- in this pub sounds were removed.

Most of the demo's need a fast PC -- probably around 2 GHz or more to get a smooth display.

cheers
Paul

Paul,

Very good work, quite impressive. I am interested in how you got the buttons done only in Opus, care to share?

Very impressive Paul! - Excellent demo of what can be achieved in Opus. I bet some complex scripting was done! :)

I wonder what DW think of it ;)

Hi Paul, very impressive work. There are some actions etc in there that I didn't think Opus could do - well done.

Paul --

Before you can run your link, it requires a Plug In be installed (one time) on the playing computer. If you used OPUS, why do you need that Plug In? Is IT doing some of the effects we are seeing?

Hi Fred,
I used the Opus Pro publishing option "create an IO based Standalone publication".
To run these you have to install the file Opus_Plugin_setup.exe you get from DW's download page -- they now call it the "Plexus" plugin.
I could have published to the usual exe, but then the file would have been about 2Mb and harder for me to upload to the forum from my present annoyingly slow connection.
All effects were done in Opus.

Hi,

Some very good animation affects paul. Very nice.

Regarding the path animation are they all preformed using bezier curves through scripting? With the x,y position changing to create a new curve.

Hi Joseph,

When the object is at the start of each curve in the path, each point (x y position) on the curve is pre calculated, based on random positions of the four points -- then the object follows the path based on the position of each point.
The hardest part is the start of each new curve must be lined up with the end and direction of the old curve, otherwise you wouldn't get a smooth transition from curve to curve.

All animation is done in script -- everything I do in Opus is done with script unless there is no alternative.

Paul

While I appreciate comments re this pub through the forum --
I have declined requests to write tutorials
or customize any components in it for individuals.

Opus is capable of a lot of things -- most of the demo
could have been written without scripting.
I just happen to use scripting in other applications, so
I stick with methods that I am comfortable with.

Just ask yourself "what do I want to achieve?"
Then start towards your goal -- one step at a time.

cheers
Paul
