In manual to Opus written: "Unlike many other multimedia authoring tools we don’t demand royalties for distributing products made with our program. So the price you see is the only price you pay....
...Opus is even powerful enough to produce commercial-quality software. To prove our point we’ve even done it ourselves."

Are there on the forum users which using Opus created quality program (any PC tools, training, game...) and it they did successfully sell?
The histories of their success are very interesting.

There are many people in the forum who are very successful at selling commercial software made with Opus. Check out the various links along side the member's name.
I'm sure you realise Opus is much more than a multimedia authoring tool. I used Opus for my MSc. Dissertation to produce a talking barcode scanner and talking alarm clock for visually impaired people. I looked at Java and Macromedia Director to develop the software, but Opus was the most versatile.

I produce commercial bespoke applications using an interface board to connect the PC to external equipment, so it can communicate with the outside world. Opus was not really designed for this kind of use and my main problem is CPU loading. Opus has a very high overhead once you try doing a lot with the application, but it's a limitation I am happy to work round. Fortunately most of my applications are updating at only once a second or every few seconds.
There is no other software on the market which comes close to the versatility of Opus and ease/speed with which applications can be created.

Sandy, thanks for the answer. I agree that Opus is very easy and rapid for developers.

I have one idea. I has for a long time hobby by psychology, systems of self-perfection, by technics of NLP. Studying opus I find that many difficult technics can be made simpler and more visual using multimedia and interactivity of Opus.

This program will help peoples to become better, happier, to solve many personal problems. Unfortunately, the service of designer, translator (with English in me entirely badly:)), to creation and support of site will require expenses and I will have to sell the program.

How you do count, will be interesting this program to usual people?

I think there is a market for self help programs. You will always get a lot of help on here...and it's free.

What is NLP?

Maybe, I wrote unclear.

Programs of this types: "9 minute coach of meditation", "how quickly go in trance", "getting rid of bad habits", "improving communication", "treatment of psychological complexes" etc.

The question was "Are there on the forum users which using Opus created quality program (any PC tools, training, game...) and it they did successfully sell? "

My reply shows a Opus created program successfully selling, so it's not spam

Okay... good Peter.
I just thought it was odd, out of place, considering the thread was 5 years old.

Yes its an old thread but like me it was posted by someone using 5.5 and XP so I think my comment is relevant, as it shows what can be done with even an old version.

If I wanted to Spam (which I don't) I'd pay someone to do it for me and it wouldn't be here :P

Yes, Peter,

Opus is used to create commercial applications and we support a wide number of individuals and companies that develop extremely high quality learning tools in a dynamic range of sectors including education; construction; finance; defence and health & welfare. Sometimes this chain is short - from us to our client to their client & their employees and other times it is a branch from us to our client who resell it on to a wide audience.

From single home users; though to schools; SMBs and onto multi-national companies - applications developed in Opus are being used & sold every day. And if I think about it too hard on this cold but sunny Monday, the sheer number of people, young and old, that will have used something we've had a part in developing, makes me need some fresh coffee, to calculate!

With the advent of Opus HTML5, I think this just makes it easier to reach an even wider use base which is better for everybody.

Regards,

Mack

Mack

Should we be worried that you might be consuming too much coffee? :D

Your coffee requirements seems to be mentioned in your posts quite frequently these days!

Cheers

Well Peter's the stats man - but I'm thinking there is a correlation between the number of posts I'm answering and the amount of coffee I drink ;-)

I did try beer, but you can imagine how that worked out!
