myVoice is an accessibility application that use Interaktiv's speech DLL to convert text using Windows (XP - W7) SAPI 4&5 Speech engines.

It was written to both demonstrate our Speech DLL which you can purchase for your publications, and to provide a simple but useful free speech interface for those that require such a facility. There are some great products for the visual impaired / specific learning needs but many cost hundreds of pounds and sometimes have too many features.

myVoice is small and portable. Simply download, unzip and run from any location including a portable drive. Because the DLL was written to use Window's built-in facilities - it should run on most modern operating systems without installing anything. This makes it great if you need to work from different machines or just need to provide somebody with speech access without hassle.

The application can either work independently or you can enable auto speech - which will monitor the clipboard and speak new text as it's copied from other applications. Simply leave it running in the system tray, and then copy (control-c) from any program and myVoice will read the text aloud - a great way to check grammar.

In independent mode, you simply enter the text directly into the application (or copy / paste) and click speak. myVoice, will then read from the cursor position or the selected word. This is really useful for those people that have difficultly proof reading work as you can listen to selections of text at a time, make alterations and then listen to the next section rather than having to keep restarting.

Mack
