Opus: Evolution
In response to a forum post about integrating an external application into Opus, we landed up delving into the world of HTML5 Canvas. A modern take on the dying Flash concept, Canvas allows coders to draw directly onto the surface of the page and interact with the result using the full force of JavaScript.

The original discussion and an open source version of the project for people to use is here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5890

Interaktiv's further development of the concept with some additional features including:

1. advanced scoring dependent on difficultly - level and grid size.
2. algorithm to calculate potential runs with end-of-game capability.
3. addition of canvas scaling to allow canvas to work with Opus responsive design.

Overall, the mash-up of Canvas and Opus work brilliantly together to create a smooth and integrated application resulting from blending coding and creative tools as part of a modern work-flow.

An impressive use of Canvas in Opus HTML5!

(IMHO, would make a great step-by-step tutorial on extending Opus for games/animations using canvas and JS.)

Glad you like it.

The project as whole would be a mammoth undertaking for a training video. The mashup bit of using Canvas code with Opus HTML5 code is negligible by comparison and only slightly more involved that the skills from the 'On Your Header' video as there is no direct involvement with the Canvas element.

I have been looking at converting one of our core applications to Opus and Canvas and if I find the time, then starting with a simple vanilla template that could be used to illustrate the Opus HTML5 object (with a Canvas element) in a short video could be possible. I doubt this will allow you to integrate full blown canvas application / games with Opus unless you have some programming experience, but on a small scale, snippets of code for creating graphs, drawing, etc could probably be added to the template and linked with your Opus HTML5 interface.

Thank you again, Mack.

Brilliant!

Also, hope we hear about a new Opus Pro release from DW soon. IMHO still the best authoring application available. A new version could offer some brand new features to make it even better.
