I don't really know whether to laugh or cry...
The single feature missing in Flex which frustrated me most has been the inability to deal with video!
When I inserted a flash video into a Flex pub it would not play, either in the editor or clicking 'test' after publishing, so since video is described in the help file as being unsupported I though that was it.
Now I find it does (!) work, but only when published.
So - using Super © to turn other video formats into .swf I can now play and control video in Flex.
Perhaps the help files could have been a bit more helpful...
Is anyone else using video .swf files from within Flex?
(Being able to use .flv files would also be nice.)

Hi Mac

I am using swf files with flex and have gone through the same maze. Have you discovered how to stop your flash video from looping? I've tried everything, but to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there
I sort of gave up on this because of issues with preloading - I seemed to find that my pause/reset/restart controls would not work until the entire swf file had downloaded. If you have a better experience please let me know.
re looping- I inserted a flash movie into the video object, chose video type 'on top' and set the option to 'play once'
the movie ended as expected.
my swf video was one created from .mov using Super© from erightsoft.
I don't think I tried it with a SWF made from any other video type
through Flex

hope this is useful. If you get any good results please let us know
cheers
Mac
