Hello everyone! I need some help addressing few issues I'm facing with a publication I'm working on. The output type is OP, the screen size is 800x600 and the the distribution format is the web. I'm trying to get the publication to open in a new browser window with certain window features in place. I've tried javascript on the resulting htm file with no success. I guess I need some javascript help here...:) I've also noticed that once I playback the publication from my server, the "exit" button" which is supposed to close the window) is not working. I have to use the browser window's close button. Is there a way to set an end action within opus that will exit the publication once activated?

Regards,
DP.

Hi

I'm not sure what program you are using to create your website. If you are summoning the pub from another web page in a site via button, some programs, like FrontPage, will have an option to open the linked page in a new window. If not, try an internet search using 'java script' and 'open in new window.'

As to closing the window, Opus has a standard action to close a window. However, if you are exiting a pub which is in a new window, I suspect you can simply add a button or vector (for example, an exit image) with an exit action on left-click.

Hope this is what you are looking for.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for your response. I used OP XE 5.5. to create a tutorial which needs to be accessed online. The website was bult using ASP.NET. I'm meant to provide a text link on the webpage from which the tutorial is to be accessed, which when activated will launch the tutorial in a new browser window. I've tried copying and modifying some javascript I came across during my web search but I'm yet to get it to work with the .htm page. Do you have some script I can try or a reference site I can get it from?

I have a text object with an exit action assigned to it but it's not functional once the publication is uploaded on the server (when I play it back online)...I can't figure out why. It previews ok and works fine in standalone mode though.

Hi

Are you using an HTML editor or can you open the webpage in an HTML editor? I would think this type of program would have an option to create a button with a URL link that can be set to open in a new page. If you can view the webpage or button code in the editor, check for "target" appearing just before the href to the URL you are sending the user to. The traget should read: target="_blank"which should launch the URL in a new page.

One thought: since the browser may treat a new page like a pop-up, a pop-up blocker or other internet browser settings may prevent viewing the new page. In an online pub you may need to ask the viewer to disable pop-up blockers before clicking the button to go to this pub. And, your own difficulty viewing, once the correct code is set up, may then be related to a pop-up blocker in your browser.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

I not sure if this is what you require for closing the page or not, but have a look at:
viewtopic.php?t=1104

You may want to do a search of the Opus site for close page or close browser, etc.

Thank you guys for the help! I've managed to get the new browser window to work. I had some errors on the code itself that I hadn't noticed. I've used javascript from this site: http://www.wallpaperama.com/forums/javs ... -t925.html.

I'm looking into the other issue and trying out the suggestions from Taylor's link. I'll keep you posted!.
