Hi

Having purchased an Early Bird version of V6, which appears to have some flaws (including the cursor, after a few navigations in preview, changing to a sideways, double-sided arrow, and Opus, although already closed, hanging up when closing down the computer), I wondered when the new Full Version with remedies for these and other problems will be released. I'm working on a project that needs a fully functioning version to be able to confidently publish a release.

Does anyone know when the URL for the remedied version of V6 will be sent to Early Bird purchasers?

Kind Regards,

Hi Stephen

Sorry, I recall reading your earlier posts on this, but I don't remember whether or not you are using Vista.

I downloaded a copy of v6 the day it was announced, and have been using it, 8-10 hours per day, 6 days per week with XP Pro SP2. Fortunately, I've not encountered any of the issues you mention.

Just a different perspective.

Hi Ray

Thanks for your reply.

Using Windows XP-SP2 as displayed on my profile. Latest drivers installed.

DW had written to me recently that the hanging up is a known issue with V6, to be remedied when the public release is done.

The cursor instability is new for me, but troubling. Has never happened in Pro 04 XE nor in Pro 5.5 XE (both of which I have), so I suspect it's a V6 issue.

Kind Regards,

Hi Stephen

I did read your profile, but wondered if you were a closet Vista tester.

I've had a lot of cursor instability but it has nothing to do with Opus, because it occurs in every program!

Some months back, my cordless mouse died so I needed to buy another keyboard/mouse laser cordless unit. Because I'd had no problems before, I stuck with Logitech. Shortly after installation, I found that the cursor randomly headed off to one of the 4 corners.

I reinstalled the software and checked for new drivers. I searched the Internet and emailed Logitech. Nothing!

I've learned to live with it because that was simpler and less time consuming than detailed trouble-shooting.

Hi Ray

Thanks for your reply.

I had planned to upgrade to Vista by now, but hearing all the issues with it, I've held off. So, I'm afraid I've never tried it out.

The cursor problem would be something I could live with if only confined to my computer. I suspect it could be an issue for some users as well and so would prefer to get the public release version with any fixes before publishing a release version of the project. I'm hoping that DW will issue this sooner than later.

Kind Regards,

I've been using OPUS v6, first in beta, and now in the same version everyone else has, without any of the cursor or memory lock-up issues you describe. I believe your problem is hardware specific. I'm sure you don't want to hear that, but what other explanation is there?

Hi Fred

Thanks for your reply.

I had written to DW support on 5/14/07 about the hanging up as follows:

>Specifically, it closes OK, but when I am shutting down the computer
>for the day, I'll get a pop-up saying that Opus.exe hasn't closed,

DW replied on 5/14/07:
Yes, this is a known issue with some computers and is the main reason we are updating Opus for the public release (plus some other minor tweaks). The new version should resolve the problem.

I was simply wondering if anyone has heard when the public release is due out, since it hopefully will have some tweaks that will improve my using it.

Kind Regards,

The shutdown issue only affects some people, some of the time - unfortunately you are one of those affected.

The public release will be announced to all customers as soon as it is available.

Stephen

I know the issue you are talking about.

I have found that if you click the File pull down menu (top left hand side) and then Save As and then cancel the Save As dialogue box and then exit Opus 6, the problem disappears 99% of the time.

Hope this helps

Graham

Hi Graham

Thanks for your reply. I'll try that out.
