hy ,

1-I am working on a big project that will be viewed on as much computers as possible,
I would like to know what is the best screen resolution that will be ok for every pc?
1024 x 768 for normal or 1024 x 800,
a standard resolution or a wide screen resolution? ,
now there are many labtops with the widescreen resolution,
I dont want to increase the screen resolutiuon too much because not all pc's have a powerful graphic cards , and of course I dont want to use 800 x 600 because is too small for my project...

2-on my project there will be many small videos, should I convert them everyone from Avi to mpeg1? or convert them in flash format? what's the best solution that will be ok for every pc without giving problems for the viewer to download drivers?

thanks

800x600 if not then 1024 x 768.
Avi not flash, as flash requires the plugin. - just make sure you don't use an uncommon codec for example DivX is good - but requries a download.

Here's a link to a website which tracks computer statistics. It says, as of May 2007, 52% of computers are using 1024x768 for screen resolution. 24% use 1280x1024, and 12% use 800x600. The audience YOU are trying to reach may be different. For example, schools may not have the newer, higher resolution monitors. Do some research into your target market to learn what they have for screen resolution, operating systems, RAM, and CD-ROM drives.

http://www.thecounter.com/stats/

Video uses the greatest amount of computer resources. While AVI files (read "uncompressed") look the best, if your target audience doesn't have high powered computers, there will be delays while the large files are loaded from CD-ROMs for viewing, and they may slow older, low RAM computers to a stand-still. I would highly recommend using short (1-2 minutes) videos which have been converted to MPEG-1 files.

When trying to reach the largest audience, you MUST use the lowest common denominator for RAM usage, CD speed, file size, and screen resolution. If you fail to follow this rule, you will certainly have many complaints that people can't view your master piece multimedia presentation.

Learn from the mistakes of others (I've made them all).
