Have any of you wonderful folk out there got anything running on a laptop with a data projector? I am a few days away of completing my first OPUS dual monitor programme. (My first 2 screen systems used windows 3.1 so that dates me!) However things are not looking too good (its Monday...). I set up my desk top machine with an extra PCI card and another monitor. Everthing runs fine - amazing - well done Digital Workshop.

So I did a test on my Samsung VM8000 laptop (Windows XP). I set it up to run dual monitors and the trouble began. I require my main programme to run on the laptop LCD screen, but it is not possble to get this to be no1 (default monitor)in two monitor mode, so my programme runs back to front! Is this just a problem with all Samsung machines or are all laptops like this?

In the Devices panel it shows the VGA driver, for the external monitor, as the default one with no visible means of changing this. Any information here would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jeremy,

I'm not an expert on this, but have managed to create a dual monitor publication that works with the main section on the laptop screen. It should be available via one of the threads if you do a search.

However, by the sound of it, you're saying that the external monitor is being identified as screen one which means the issue is with windows / hardware rather than Opus.

I've included a screen shot of what my setup looks like so that you can compare. ID1 is the laptop.

Mack

Sorry,

Hadn't realised that it wouldn't accept an image that large.

Here's the smaller version...

edit...or perhaps we simply can't see our own uploaded images as it still doesn't show.

Mack - very confused now.

First, are you using OPUS v6? Please put details of your software, OS, and hardware in your profile.

In a v6 Chapter you can set on which monitor that Chapter will appear. You can have up to 16 monitors. You can even set where it starts.

Thanks for the responses. Please note that system details are now included! I have just tried out the programme on a Compaq Presario (suspect old version). That gets the monitors in the right order but would only allow 640 x 480 resolution on the display monitor. I suspect that with more up to date laptops there may not be any problem but I will have to provide a "tester" programme as well as including single screen operation as well.

You can only have so much fun in a day....
