How much and how long?

Take your pick, most of them share the same AES code though. I need a function for a XE5.5 pub that will encrypt (and decrypt) a plaintext block no matter what output. What am I looking at, ballpark?

Hi James

Wish I could be of help, but your question raises an important related issue: what is the default encryption standard used in Opus, when, for example, a text file is encrypted using an encryption key? From your question asking about AES, I suspect that the currently available Opus encryption mode and key may not be AES 128.

I am hoping someone familiar with AES 128 can comment as to (1) whether the standard Opus encryption using a specific length and alphanumeric combination for the key can reliably achieve AES 128 and (2), if not, what steps could be taken within an Opus script to add AES 128 encryption.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Kind Regards,

If it is AES, I thought we'd still need the same Round Constant values?

If we can get that, my problem is solved, I can write to encrypted files in Opus and I can have a separate C++ program decrypt it.

I couldn't find in the documentation what it is.

edit: I forgot I've compared some values, doesn't look like AES to me, more like an ANSI shift.

Hi James

I'm afraid this is "way over my head." I am just hoping that if I use standard Opus encryption for example, writing to a text file, that I am achieving a strong enough encryption to meet AES 128 (needed for electronically transmitted health sensitive data).

It would be helpful if DW could comment on this, provide some details about the encryption standard used: no need to give away "national secrets." :)

Kind Regards,
