I created a new gallery, then copied two objects that were at the bottom of a page ordering and pasted them to the gallery. When I drag those items from the gallery to a page, those items do not go to the bottom of that page's ordering; they go to the midle, and then I have to drag them to the bottom. This isn't that big a deal, but if they went to the bottom of the ordering, that would save me a bit of time, as I am having to do this process on a bunch of pages. Does anyone know if there is a way to force the desired ordering when I drag from the gallery?
Thanks.
Mike

I can't test this in Opus 5, but in 5.5 objects from the gallery behave as expected, by aligning themselves exactly as they were placed on the page from which I copied them.

This applies whether I drag the opgects from the Components didplayed in the Organiser, or whether I open the Components tab and double-click the object.

I don't remember the exact operation of Components in v5.0.

Hi,
Thanks for replying. I'm using version 5.5, and it's not ordering itself in that way for me. On the page from which I copied, they were at the bottom of the order, but on the pages I drag them to, they're in the middle.
Thanks,
Mike

The reaction you are receiving might suggest that you need to reset the Opus registry. If you do this, remember that you will need to redo any optimising or customising that you have done :(

In case you have forgotten, when you next open Opus, hold down Ctrl+Alt

Make sure of you default and current Page sizes.

For example, DW provided "Right Curl" object in the gallery to go Forward a page. I think it was created and POSITIONED for an 800 x 600 page size.

I use 1024x768. When I pulled from the Gallery, RightCurl is partway up the page. Simple... I drag it ONCE to the position I want. Then I saved it to Gallery (I think it is in the Rt-Click menu to add Object to gallery), naming it RtCurl_SVGA.

Now when I Drag that from Gallery to my page, it is positioned correctly (until I decide to use a diff page size again.)

Hi, thanks for writing.

I did the reset, and it still exhibits this behavior. I appreciate the advice, however.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,

I appreciate you taking the time to try to solve my problem. However, all the pages are the same size. I did it the way you did it, in which I copied it from the proper position and pasted to the gallery. But when I drag it to another page of the same size (and with most of the same objects on it), it doesn't place it in the same ordering depth.

Thanks again,
Mike

Mike,

I've never tried this, but if you can make up a sample pub with the problem, back it up with resources AND email this and a copy of the recalcitrant gallery, I'm prepared to have a look at it.

I've used galleries for many years and rate them as the single best feature in Opus -- for the type of pubs I design.

Hi Ray, thanks for the generous offer. I created a simple sample pub, then zipped up the imp file and gallery file and emailed the zip file to you. The resources are all simple vector shapes.
Thanks,
Mike
