I wish that Opus had a function bank where frequently used functions could be stored and called.

This would work by allowing the user to call this 'global' function from any publication that they are working on, and it would automatically be recognised when the program is run / published.

There would have to be some sort of add function code to current script object facility for those sharing IMPs.

At the moment, I use the excellent Arsclip to store a bank of reusable code, but prehaps...

As an interim, would a forum for posting functions that others might use be realistic?

"Set External file" on a script object saves the script object to to a file, which can be imported to another Publication. You can also open it in a text editor.

You can also save useful scripts into the Script Templates folder (text files with an .ils extension) and you can then easily access them via the QuickBuild Script Template dialog.

I am thinking more about a place where people could post and exchange useful functions, so as not to re-develop the wheel

This isn't quite what I meant. Although, if you could create these code snippets and then call a function from them without having to insert the actually manually, this would be great.

However, I have to say, that the snippet templates is a great idea in itself. I have to add a script object contatin the liciencing & registration code to each of my programs and it's extremely simple using this tool.

Also, there is some great examples of using advanced features of javascript - the ability to create objects and add prototypes is probably my favourite!

Suppose now I need to change my wish.

1. Keep the scripts templates
2. Add ability to call functions from these templates without having to insert actual code (Opus could do this automatically?)
3.Have an online depositity to share these functions
