Has anyone spotted any magazine reviews of Opus 6? I subscribe to PC Pro and Personal Computer World in the UK and these usually review new versions of Opus but don't seem to have done so this time. Has it not been actively marketed or are they not interested for some reason (perhaps lack of new features, etc.)?

AndrewQ --

Computer magazines must get dozens of requests each month from software companies to review their newest products. I'm sure DW would LOVE to get a review. As a reader of some well know pubs, maybe you could write to them and request an OPUS v6 review.

As someone who now owns OPUS v6, I am surprised by your final comment inferring there aren't any NEW features in v6. Maybe I got a special version. I have a full page of new features. Look under HELP -> Contents & Index -> New Features for a summary.

Have you worked with Multiple Monitors, the new 3D Flip Transitions, QuickBuild Rename, Organizer Highlight Colors, Line Cap Scale, Variable Watch Window, Drawing Tool Scripting, Modern Button Styles, Modifying Text in Different States, Quick Animation, MultiFrame Labels, or Checkbox Styles? After you have, I'm sure you'll be able to write a glowing, "over the top" review of OPUS v6 for a magazine. The more you use OPUS, the more you appreciate its power and features.

These mags (and others) have always covered Opus new versions in the past. There have been many recent articles on multimedia development and web applications - some from former Opus enthusiasts like Kevin Partner - none of which have acknowledged the existence of DW's product. I know, of course, that there are some new features in Opus 6 but comparatively few in relation to earlier upgrades and many of them are IMHO pretty small beer or of minority interest. Is it just that things here are a little stale?

Thanks for your concern Andrew but as I've no doubt you've noticed, both Kevin and Brian Heywood no longer have columns in PC Pro. The editor has chosen to focus away from multimedia.

In addition, we would not waste time marketing over the summer when our core demographic is on holiday :-)

As far as new features go, it depends on what you use Opus for. I've been in the field with real world customers for the last two years looking at what they are actually using Opus for. The new features reflect that and the new version has been well received. I realise that those focussed on SORM or Flash did not get everything they wanted. I am now starting a review of SCORM features. We are also looking at our support for Flash. However, we see a revolution coming in the way software is used and we are focussed on ensuring Opus fits into that and that as our customers you will be able to take advantage of that change.

Hi Paul.
You mention your "core demographic".
Just curious -- how would you define it?

cheers
Paul
