Hi there. I recently uninstalled the demo version from my vist PC and tried to install the full version. I got a lot of error messages and ended up having to run regsvr32 occache.dll as an administrator to get Opus to complete the install. I now get the error message "Cannot load version information. Please reinstall your product. if the problem persists please contact your product vendor." I have tried cleaning the registry and removing files but nothing is working. I note on the board that someone elso got the same message when they tried to repeatedly install the demo version. Its a bit frustrating when you have purchased the full one.

Any ideas?

Lloyd

Following the process I describe below has usually resolved strange behavioural problems for me with Opus.

You say that you have done a reinstall of Opus. Did you do a complete "clean reinstall" where you delete all Opus folders and edit the registry before reinstalling? The suggested technique for doing this is in a post from Nov 2004 by DW Support, and I include it here for your convenience:

Please first uninstall all versions of Opus from your system. To do this, click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Look through the list of installed programs for any references to Illuminatus Opus, Illuminatus Opus Pro, Opus Pro XE, Opus Presenter, Opus Pro 04, Opus Pro XE 04 or Opus Presenter 04. If found, click on the entry to highlight it, then click the Remove button to uninstall the software.

Once all versions of Opus have been uninstalled, please right-click on your Start button and select Explore... Navigate to C:\Program Files and look for any folders referring to Illuminatus Opus, Illuminatus Opus Pro, Opus Pro XE, Opus Presenter, Opus Pro 04, Opus Pro XE 04 or Opus Presenter 04. If found, simply click on the folder to highlight it, then press Delete on the keyboard.

Once all Opus program folders have been deleted, click Start > Run, type regedit and click OK. Double-click on the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder to display its contents. Double-click on the Software folder to display its contents. Now single-click on the Digital Workshop folder to highlight it and press Delete on the keyboard. Click Yes to confirm the deletion. Now please close the Registry Editor using the X icon in the top-right of the screen.

I too have had this before with 5.5.

I traced it to a registry cleaning program. Once I deleted the rgistry program the unable to load version nag and subsequent reinstall disappeared.

Maybe you have something similar happening

Hi, I already tried clearing out the whole registry and doing a complete uninstall. I also ran a registry cleaner. Prior to installing 06 I did an uninstall of Pro 05 and the expired evaluation version of 06. Could the problem stem from previously running the evaluation version? Does it put anything else on the machine?

... I had a similiar problem with Opus 6 on a Vista system. The demo version worked fine and the full version did not work at all. I had tried many things to make this work but without success. Finally I decided to run Opus 6 on a XP-machine because I could not get any help with this problem.

I had a similar problem with an Adobe product but Adobe have brought out a little hack to the Microsoft installer repair that clears everything from the system. I wonder if DW could do the same. Meanwhile I'm running it on a laptop. The demo version did have a problem on Vista with the display corrupting also. DW said it was a driver problem. I have the latest driver for the Quadro FX card :(
