Opus is an extremely powerful porgram for many many uses including custom and builtin quiz facilities.

I'm hoping to upload the beta version of IKIQ (Interkativ's commericial quiz application) this afternoon.

It might provide you with some additional ideas for your quiz and I always appriciate feedback

I've sorted the User Question Quiz out. It is a 2 part prog quiz.

Thanks for the chance to test your quiz IKIQ.
First let me congratulate you on a great idea.

Now I will play the Devil's Advocate, rather than pointing out all of the niceties of the quiz I will go the other way.

What audience are you aiming at? Comic font throughout the quiz seems to me to be aimed at 12year olds or younger. If your target is mature audiences, which I gather it is by the nature of the questions, then I would have used a recognizable font like Ariel. (it's common because it works)

The Intro screen is annoying and difficult to understand. KISS.
Be carefull with music if this is a commercial venture. Copyright last 70 years and if you didn't write it you don't own it.

I would have liked to have seen a status bar rather than the turning pencil on the loading page.

The tickertype question text wasts time waiting for it to appear. The clock is ticking away. Perhaps a short fade in ?
Also stop the clock when the user watches a video or listens to the music. (oh I love Yankee Doodle Dandy and the video clips are great)

The house colour scheme is a bit 'play-schoolish' and rather a bit savage if the quiz goes on for a long time.

BTW. All work that I do I send to friends for their comments and critique

Devil's Advocate is fine by me - I'd rather get a rounded view point

The purpose of IKIQ is seems to have progress since starting development. The final version will be available in three different stages:

1. Complete - whereby the user purchases an existing quiz - probably topic based and aimed at the education market. The LEAs also get a beta later this week and like Marmite will probably either love or hate the interface.

2. Customised - This is where IKIQ started life - several customers want the program with a different interface and slight variation in the question types specialising for their type of business.

3. Source code - This is also being made available to customers who want to develop IKIQ themselves or intergrate it into an existing publication.


Although you can't tell, the actual coding makes it easy to change many aspects of the program - switching colours / fonts / question types. Because IKIQ is mostly coded - it only uses three opus pages and one of this is the splash screen that you love and another is solve an annoyance when using the DocView feature.

Yes copyright is a big big issue and made more complicated by the fact that the 70 year rule isn' that straight forward. It only applies to certain countries and in certain situations. It also doesn't matter whether the end result is commericial or personal or pleasure.

I had an issue with one of the images (the Amsterdam question). I had wanted to use a picture of Anne Frank - but couldn't find one that had been released to the public domain.

As for you favourite part of the program, the splash screen - you can use the spacebar to skip ahead.
