Have any of you any idea how I could improve this presentation...I want the tabs to only show one up at a time...it kinda works but seems to fall over occasionally...any thoughts. :?

You could make two plain background graphics and then make them mouse states for a button. This would give you the animation you are seeking and wouldn't require a lot of overhead.

Create one image with your tab at half the image size with a top part being a solid color so you can make it transparent. This will be your normal button state image.

Create another image with your tab at fully extended size (taking up all of the allowable space). This will be your over button state image.

As long as you use similar backgrounds you can then include text on the button and you don't have to keep changing the image.

You could then also set up your button group as a radio button group and make sure you use the full image as your button down image and that way you'd have the button that was clicked "active" to show the user that that's the button they selected.

Just a thought.

When you use Mouse Over and Mouse Exit, it is possible to move your mouse/cursor faster than the computer can react. If you switch to Left Click instead of Mouse Over, and reset all the Tabs when you click, then make that Tab move, I believe you'll achieve the desired look.

I'm attaching a different approach which uses Move To Animations rather than Animations Paths, plus I use Custom Triggers and Custom Actions instead of all your code. The surrounding Frames are shown with Red Borders to illustrate their positions. They are meant to reset all the Tabs when you move from the selection area.

Many many thanks for that Fred and your time in looking at it...looks very interesting, i have never actually used Custom triggers yet, I like what you have produced and I'll have a look at custom triggers and actions a little more.

Thanks

What a great example. I had a few ideas of how to do this, but yours is so simple -- and effective -- and it shows the value of Custom Trigger/Actions.

Well done.

If it is likely to help, I have a detailed tutorial covering Custom Triggers/Tutorials as part of my Basic Opus Guide. To download, follow the link from: viewtopic.php?t=2963

some examples shown seem to fall over if the mouse is zapped around too quickly -
here's a solution I worked out...

You are the WINNER!!! Congrats!!!! Yes, your solution is simple, requires the least code, and does NOT require any Objects to compensate for rapid mouse movement. I would use your solution. Nice work.

This again shows the variety of ways OPUS allows you to attack and solve creative problems. I am constantly amazed at what Digital Workshop has created in OPUS.
