As I asked for this showcase, I'll have a go at contributing!

Well, aside from our Corporate clients, we've done a number of very successful multimedia publications for Local Councils in the UK over the last three years. Some of these have won Local, National and even European awards.

In particular, an Opus publication we made earlier this year for Berkshire Learning Skills Council has recently won the "Institute of Career Guidance National Award for Innovative Use of IT"

Of course, these awards gain us more recognition, and more business...

Meanwhile, as it's always easier to sell ourselves to customers by example, we've now added a page to our website showing stills from various multimedia productions we've made, which you're welcome to look at here: http://www.rossiterandco.com/multimedia-gallery.htm

Several years on from making the decision to stick with Digital Workshop, we're now arranging for our new Video Editor to get Opus training later this month... I'd still recommend it to anyone!

Linda

Linda
what an impressive website! what a lot of information! must have been a lot of work. Are you making all your flash in Flash or is any of it done with Opus Flex?
btw I cannot see any of your streaming media in my Windows Player - it may be to do with our network restrictions? (our internet is controlled by our its dept)
good work

Mac, Thank you very much for the kind words... my partner and I have built the site up over the last 6 years ... I do the design and programming, he does the concept, script, search engine stuff and is generally the brains behind it.

We've had a couple of major overhauls on the way, and are just discussing the next one now, as I'm tired of the current design. However, there's so many pages in it that a redesign is a months work, so I'm not sure I have the time this Quarter.

The bits of Flash there are have been done in Flash MX, as the editor we've recently hired is good at it; I've used Opus for many years for multimedia work, but never really got into Flex; to test, I tried exporting a couple of multimedia cd projects as Flex files, but there were too many unsupported things. It'd no doubt be a lot more successful if I were to start a Flex pub from scratch, but I haven't had a suitable project turn up yet.

However, I do want to get more multimedia examples onto the site this year... as a lot of our multimedias contain video, the Export to mpg function in the latest Opus doesn't quite work for us, so I've been experimenting with using Camtasia to record multimedias, with some success. If you're able to play it, we've just put up a Flash video with some multimedia bits in here: http://www.rossiterandco.com/multimedia-production.htm

Although we use as dedicated Video server, and have done quite some research on this, I know that many users still can't view the streaming files for a number of reasons.

In the last few months we've moved onto Flash video, which has been a lot more successful with some of the larger UK corporations that couldn't see the Windows Media files. I'd be interested to know if you can play the Flash videos here:

Thanks, Linda
