Hi!

Can anyone help me on this one ?

I have created a setup screen in Opus and want the user to run EXE files by clicking buttons. So far this works fine the Launch file command if there is only one EXE file launched with each button.

Now the question ! How can I, for example , let the user execute all the EXE files in the publication directory (one EXE after the other, not at the same time)? I've tried putting all the files in a DOS Batch file but it doesn't work

Have you considered setting variables for each of the exe files and then running actions like this when the user clicks the button:

if variable_launch = 1
launch exe1
if variable_launch =
launch exe2

I have used this successfully, but I am not sure that your requirements match mine.

When the viewer reaches the last Page of the first EXE file, you can use a Button Trigger or a Left Mouse Click on any Object/Page, with the Action called Launch which will start the next EXE, and it has the option to close the first EXE file.

Is that what you are trying to do?

Thanks to both of you and I think I found an easier solution but somehow it doesn't work.

If I put multiple launch commands on a left mouse click they should all be executed, one after the other ( or am I wrong )

What happens is that the first EXE file launches but the others don't.
PS : These are not OPUS Pubs but programmes I want to install one after the other.

Sorry Klaus, I think you are on the "Road to Ruin" with this idea. I believe you will have your OPUS program, plus all the other Install programs running -- all at once. Not good.

You never said each of the EXE files was an Install program. You have to do each install separately, plus you normally shouldn't have other programs open. Many install programs re-start your computer.

OPUS is not the answer. You need to buy something like InstallShield which will install whatever you want.

I suggest that you use Inno Setup for the installation. The program is free/donation ware. I've used it for installations rather than the Opus built-in installation option. It can be found at the following link.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions.

My problem is that I have small ,already compiled, installation packages that I put all in one directory . I want the user to be able to install all the packages one after the other so that he doesn't have to click on each one separately

Is there any way that I can put execute commands in a DOS batch file , which I can then start from an OPUS pub ?

Unless I'm mistaken there's no way that the Opus pub (or a batch file) can 'tell' that the previous install has finished and to go on to the next one.

Launching all the installations at once is obviously not a good plan so I tihnk you may be stuck with making people click things one after the other. It's not that much of a hardship--plenty of professional program make you install more than one item from a menu.

Alternatively, you could create a brand new installer (using InnoSetup, NSIS or one of the many freeware and open-source installation creators) which installs all seven applications to the end-user's hard disk. Your publication would then only need one button to launch the installer, and the installation routine would handle the rest.

Couldn't you build your installs, so that you have an action after completing the install of launching the next install exe and continue until the last install has been completed?

That would give you the result for which you are looking.

What is the difference between the Installer2Go program and the Setup2Go program? They appear to have identical functions and screens.

I've used Setup Factory 6 (from Indigo Rose) for a while, and didn't want to lay out Serious Cash just to keep current with the next upgrade. Haven't had all that much use for it, but on occasion it has come in quite handy.

If I leave Setup Factory behind, it seems that Installer2Go would be the preferred approach for my relatively few uses (although I'd pay the $50 ransom to avoid using the advertisement/logo).
