I am having problem publishing a imp file.
Every time I try this, the program gets so far through the publish sequence then crashes. The file has been published before with no problems and I have now reverted back to how my original file was but still I have these problems.

Has anyone seen this before?

I have tried on 5.5 and 6.0 with the same result. The original program was built on 5.5

Win 2000 is the op system

Opus: 9.75
OS: Win 10
System: Asus i7-7700K 16Gb
I have had problems like this before, but usually resetting the registry or reinstalling the program fixes it. but since it's happening with V 5.5 as well, I don't think that would work.

Reading between the lines, you have modified an existing publication , but reverted to the original version....are you absolutely sure you have removed all the changes and not overlooking something silly?

When publishing, do you set the process to show progress, you might get a clue to which point it is failing.

Can you start dismantling a copy of the publication and see if at some point publication works.

Have you checked all the scripts to make sure the script window says they are OK.

have you tried on another PC?

can you post the demon IMP?

Good luck!!

just to add a sanity check or two.

* the problem description points to only this one project, so you have no problem publishing other, similar pubs? You might confirm success with both some earlier version of this project, and then some alternative pub. That would eliminate Opus application and PC/sys configuration as the culprit.

otherwise...
* confirm you're a user with admin priv. when publishing
* try saving a copy of project and then attempt publishing as an alternative type... standalone, web, or full etc.

Good luck.

Hi Lar, Sandy

sorry for not replying sooner but our work schedule here is just crazy at the moment and 'playing on the pc' is not at the top of production demands !

Lar, you asked..

* the problem description points to only this one project, so you have no problem publishing other, similar pubs? You might confirm success with both some earlier version of this project, and then some alternative pub. That would eliminate Opus application and PC/sys configuration as the culprit.

I tried this and other projects do work and others dont ! I tried a new pub and that worked fine.
I have found a bug in the program files of my problem pub, (noticed from an error log). A gif i was using as a movie in my pub had become corrupt and opus was unable to process it during the publishing.
The actual gif concerned worked fine in Iexplorer but I deleted it from the imp and I was able to publish without error.

What i have found now is that I am constantly getting memory referencing errors and another one tonight which i cannot show you as i had it on paste, forgot and then copied and pasted the above text..duh
It was a very bizzare message though and the dialogue box would not close. I had to close Opus from device manager.

The company pc is on an internal network running win2000 and is normally very stable with all programs but opus seems to be giving it a run for its money just now!

We are changing to Vista later in the year and I'm dreading the compatability issues that I have seen around the forum.

Unfortunately posting the imp would offer little benefit as the file is on a network and the program references a lot of files and databases on said
network. To be fair, the program has been running well for over 20mths and it was a small adjustment that was required that highlighted the fault.

As previously stated, I now have it publishing again but as to the exact cause of the problem.....who knows?

Thanks for your help though, It is always appreciated. The both of you are a credit to this forum.
