 Post subject: published runs very slow, Preview OK

I have a publication with about 12 objects(simple vectors). There is a script which moves the objects, all relative to a variable, so each object is moving at a different speed, but mathematically related to the same variable. The script is very simple, but there is a huge amount of processing involved.

In preview mode, it runs fine, but when published, it almost grinds to a halt??
I would have expected it to be the other way round--if there was a difference.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Usually things are a bit faster after publishing because the Opus IDE is not running and using RAM/CPU resources.

Do your objects start fast then slow down, or run slowly straight away?
Are you making Opus do repeat calculations when it doesn't need to?
If could post the script it will be easier to see what the problem is; if the script is the problem.

Thanks Paul,

I thought it was due to the processor running out of steam, but I have just checked the monitor and it only gets to about 80% when the pub is running. I use an event handler on the mouse and the operation seems to be different when published. In preview mode, events are handled immediately, but in Published mode, events are not handled until the mouse stops moving. this seems to be what is causing the apparent go slow!

There is no problem in preview, so I'm convinced the script is OK.
It seems to be related to the priority given to the publication when it's running. If I set the process priority to High or realtime, it functions almost normal.

hmmmmmmmm?? curiouser and curiouser.
