Opus: Evolution
I've uploaded a VCR style control that Interaktiv developed recently for customer. It illustrates how Opus Script (and maths) can be used to build really useful objects.

The VCR is a fully working object for controlling a range of video and audio formats and in addition to the normal Opus Actions uses scripting to provide functioning slider control that allows you to both drag and click to position.

The slider is built using dynamic coding, so if you need to stretch or squash the control panel to fit to a specific size, the code calculates everything for you!

The video clip is 15mb so anybody on a slow connection will experience a delay in jumping forward until the whole clip has been downloaded.

Enjoy,

Mack

Mac,

Great timing. I was just starting to experiment with video, and finding that I have to build up some controls. Would like to do that once or twice and then have them for reuse/gallery. So your example inspires me to take that on.

As simple as the web video looks, I think you're saying there's alot more going on behind the scenes to make it ~universal.

Any 'hints' for what to consider or how to approach the "object for controlling a range of video and audio formats"? Are these different if it's an Opus standalone pub vs a Web pub?

Good cheer.

Morning Lar,

This is an interesting challenging. The coding side isn't too bad it's working out how to make it work with the tools in Opus that makes you think. There's about 40 lines of code and this controls the slider. The buttons use actions.

I'm sure that you'll enjoy the challenge of this so I won't give the whole game away - but as a hint, the principle behind the control is percentages - and using this to keep the two (video / slider) in sync.

The Plexus version is simply the standalone one published for the web - so you can use it for both - which is a nice bonus.

Have fun,

Mack
