For me, getting comfortable with opus scripting to do Something :? --- is a long process of learning. Not super-long, but long in the sense there is always more to learn and discover.

(of course that's true of Opus in general... even without Scripting, there is a lot of power in standard triggers & actions... and finding what is possible is also a continuing process)

For those who go beyond the ground-floor and the mezzanine with Opus Scripts, you may find these pages interesting and helpful. The first one led me to the next 3.

and from there:
http://www.crockford.com/javascript/private.html
http://www.litotes.demon.co.uk/js_info/ ... tatic.html
http://blogs.sun.com/sundararajan/entry ... javascript

(My understanding is: that Opus Script is based on ECMA262, but has some extras. JavaScript and ECMA262 have common foundations, but also some departures from one another.)
If nothing else, I find the above links fill-in some explanation for some terminology discussed here from time to time.

OOP is great fun and very powerful.

Those articles tend to deal with new versions of JS and not everything will work exactly the same way in OpusScript.

One thing to remember is that unlike new JS you need to create a least one object of class before you can use the prototype object to define methods, etc.

However, from what I read, everything in them is possible with OpusScript.

Thanks Mack, ("prototype" was something I didn't understand, and one of the things that set me off to searching. )
Dave, since you liked those I pulled these from my bookmarks (under Category 'read future -- after I know more first' )

NOTE: It is VERY possible the following cannot work in Opus, do not apply to Opus script. The articles may assist understanding (as for me), or may spur ideas of things to try. Also, even if I get something to work today, if it's not 'official' in Opus it may not work next month.

Object Array in ECMAScript 262

Methods in ECMAScript 262
http://phrogz.net/ObjJob/methods.asp (more commands, but 'unsupported' in Opusscript?)

A long awaited Prototype cheat sheet

(this one is really 'out there' --- I'd be curious to learn if anyone finds anything applicable or useful here)
Custom events are not "click" and "scroll" and "changed", but are the truly custom events you define for your own application

All of the above come under that caveat: "I am traveling to Portugal, but am reading up on Algiers, Kazakhstan, and Borneo anyway"

It's terrific to have you point out these additional resources, so thank you for passing on the information. Anything that helps to demystify (for me at least) scripting in Opus is very beneficial.

Particularly appreciate the caveat :D

Best regards Larry,
Dave
