Opus: Pro 7.6
OS: Vista 64
System: Vista 64, HP, 6GB RAM. Basically "Out of the box" with no special graphics. Very robust.
Is there a way to install Opus Pro 5, and 6 on the same machine ?

Thanks..

Steve Hawley

It sould be as simpla as just installing both versions. I have Opus pro XE 5 on my PC and the latest V6.1. The both work OK.
They should install independently.

Hmmmm... as simple as that..... I tried it, and it seems to work fine, though I noticed that a Pro 6 pub opened with impunity in Pro 5; I'll have to be careful to choose the correct version.

A few years ago, when I went from Presenter, to Pro 5, and much to my chagrin, my Presenter pubs had to be reworked/repaired in Pro 5. It was a nightmare, at the time. I found that having Presenter, and Pro, installed at the same time was hazardous to my health.... :) (I suspect that they were sharing common resource locations that were not compatible; but I don't know for sure; it was awhile ago)

Anyway, I was running scared with Pro 6.

Thanks for your help !

Steve -- a brief summary of my experiences between versions.

1. Opening version 4 in v5 and saving them as v5 pubs. Put simply, horrendous! I had to rework every pub for which I had plans of continued development in v5.

2. When v6 arrived I was cautious and sceptical about the interaction of v5 pubs with v6. After opening some major v5 pubs and saving them as v6, I was pleased to find that there were no significant problems. As a result, I worked through all v5 pubs and converted them to v6.

A warning note: My v5 pubs that had evolved from v4 and earlier did not convert satisfactorily. This factor meant that I had to bite the bullet and completely rework this class of pubs.

That wasn't as bad as it might first seem. The rework meant that I was able to incorporate new ideas and best of all, make use of the many new features in v6.

Please note that the above comments may well be restricted to pubs that I had developed. There is a chance that they will not apply to your pubs. I advise caution until you're happy with the conversions.
