Yes,

Found that the new AVG was slowing the install to a snails pace - but beside that everything seems OK - have been programming all morning and no problems.

Thanks for that guys.
I just noticed the announcement by chance and there had been nothing said in the forum.

I'm just about to install it and see.

What's new/different???

Sandy

If I preview one v6 pub in v6.01, the close button on the pub doesn't work and task manager is needed to close it.
Hopefully it's just a glitch with this particular pub; tested a few more and I didn't get the problem.

I had that problem with V6 just a few days ago.!! I couldn't find what caused the problem. I found I could 'fix' it by putting in a delay after the exit statement, but when I remove that now, it's OK.

It's only a few very minor changes. The main fix is to correct the line styles issue that some people were experiencing. It also addresses one customer specific issue that won't affect anyone else.

Plus of course it includes the Vista improvements that were part of v6.00v that was released a few months ago.

Hi

As posted in the last couple of days http://www.digitalgrapevine.info/viewtopic.php?t=3256, I've had some difficulties with both the new SR 6.01, the full version of 6.01 and uninstalling the January, 2008 v6:

(1) January 2008 v6 uninstall (a) either leaves uninstalled files in the Opus program files folder (only can be rid of by deleting the folder itself); or won't uninstall at all: INSTALL.LOG can't be found.

(2) SR 6.01 and full 6.01 have publishing problems: (a) initially the pub's icon is missing (generic icon displays instead), (b) directly after publishing to a folder and left or right clicking on the generic icon .exe, freezes the machine needing task manager to close down, (c) if mouse down on generic icon .exe folder's Vista green bar shows it is slowly "working" (bar creeps along) for about 90 seconds, ending with the correct pub icon appearing (at this point, pub is fully functional and OK), (d) 6.01 desktop shortcut icon, after installing, turns into the generic Windows icon, and the Opus icon file (.ico) can not be located to restore it.

I also found that evaluation version pubs created in January, 2008 v6 had difficulty after being re-published in 6.01 of being unlocked. They would unlock (used the eval key generator), but then the next re-boot would show that they were still on eval trial and need to be re-unlocked, which repeated over and over with no resolution other than to change the pub's ID in the security tab (new pub ID eval was able to be permanently unlocked).

This all occurs in spite of several system restores back to before any 6.01 SR or full version was installed(was finally able to successfully perform these after temporarily shutting of a Norton feature preventing these from working).

The OEM Vista quad core machine is a few months old and otherwise works flawlessly. Full 6.01 is now currently on the machine and working well other than the above publishing, icon and (unchanged) pub ID eval issues.

I have written to DW support in hopes of getting these resolved. Perhaps, they can suggest a registry clean up for the Opus keys and a way to do a clean new install of a full 6.01. The other issues described are a mystery.

Kind Regards,

Stephen

Seems to me that being a "minor upgrade" is causing "major headaches". Stick to the golden rule..."Is your version is working, why bother to upgrade".
Have a great day everyone!

Progress on the Opus front, Digital Workshop haven't seen a post from you guys in a while, is there any progress on Opus 7, or 6.5.

Great application and hope development is progressing nicely.

Opus is a great application but the market is shrinking for multimedia software that runs only on Windows.
While Flex gives multi platform access through the Flash player it is only at a basic level.

V. 6.01 is a pain in the neck.

I have a lot of trouble since I have installed the 6.01 full version. Installation needs about 15 minutes. When starting Opus it is shown minimized in the task bar and sometimes it is not possible to restore the program window.

Trying to load some of my publications I found that this is not possible because 6.01 crashes.

I must admit that I am very disappointed. First I had a lot of serious difficulties with Vista and now this annoyance with the upgrade.

Since I have bought Opus for working and not for beta testing I hope, that we will see a working! upgrade soon.

T.

I am running the upgrade with no issues on Windows XP Pro - both new and older pubs.
But I am about to switch to Vista with a new system - so, I too, am concerned. Is this a Vista or DW problem - I suspect the former.....

Regards

Pete

You can be shure that is not a vista problem.

In my case Opus was the only application that I could not use under Vista.

I had no problems with other applications like Flash, Swish, Captivate, Camtasia and Director.

Since I have switched back to XP ony because of Opus I am all the more disappounted that I have now serious issues with 6.01 again.
