Is it possible to run an Opus publication from a server. I have a number of clients who wish to run from a central server that each user logs into. Is this possible?

Is there anything I need to do to get this working or will the server look after everything?

Hi lmc, Obviously I'm not an experienced user yet, but I have found that running my 255 page publication (weighing in at 20MB) over our network, tends to miss keystrokes sometimes.

I have told our users to make local copies, there have been no speed issues then, could be we just have a crappy network though, I too would be interested in others experiences.

Cheers, Buns

lmc, I run a publication over a server. My target audience is based all over our site. There is a good bit of interactivity with databases, text files and excel files. I also run small pubs on the same server which link into the main pub and have had no problems.

It is possible to have logins as well. I use this system, reading from an encrypted text file.

One of the main pitfalls of our IT system is the fact we have to jump through hoops to get anything installed. Every app we install is tested to death and this includes Opus. I had to wait over 10wks just to get Opus approved!!

This turns into a major benefit when you realise that all our apps work well together, and major issues are kept to a minimum. Along with other rules, they really do help keep our server run at optimum levels which my publication benefits from.
