Hello Guys!
I was wondering, is it possible to create a login style application in Opus Pro XE 5.5 using a Microsoft Access database? If so, how?
I'm fairly new to these advanced parts of Opus, so do forgive me!
Thanks in advance.

Ben/C

Ben,

welcome to the forum.

Not clear to me what is wanted.

Opus does have a built-in provision for users to enter a password. If I recall correctly, could be done for the whole publication... or for individual chapters. (check Pub properties, chapter prop.) Check the help files if that is of interest. Not a Username login though.

As for a database or specifically an Access DB, you might get some response if you outline the steps you plan for logon, what gets stored in the DB, why this is important. etc. Are you trying to set-up a shared Opus pub?

Good luck.

Hiya!

Yes sorry for the lack of details!

The idea is to create a shared publication which will read some files from a server type machine is a username and password is correct. I noticed the database action in Opus, and came up with the idea that I could query a database (MS Access probably) for a valid username (provided via a text input) and then check the password for that username(record). The publication would then load the files and exit.

So basicly I would like to know how to query a database for the correct username and then check the correct password is entered.

Does that make it any clearer?

Thanks!

Robin Garrett has already written a series of excellent tutorials on how to use Opus with databases. See the tutorial section.
