Hi, if you would like to go to:

www.clearandsimplewebdesign/storage/clear

you will see a site I am building. You will notice the circle in the logo is distorted slightly.

I have tried various strategies to iron this out: creating the image in different formats (the same size as the published image) and creating the circle within Opus itself.

Created in Opus the circle has slightly pointed ends at the N S E W points.

Can anyone help.

Hi Keith,

By the way that's:

http://www.clearandsimplewebdesign.co.uk/storage/clear/

I am viewing the logo, including circle, on a large screen (24") in IE7, and it looks fine. The circle is a proper, well-proportioned circle. The only issue is some line "fuzziness" at the 9P and 12 positions: something I've noticed generally in most vector drawings (Opus or others) of circles (position varies). So, my guess is this circle is about as good as it gets, atleast on my 24" screen. Looks fine. :)

Kind Regards,

Hi Keith,

Didn't see the missing .co.uk (thanks Stephen) but the blips on the circle are caused by the image being the same size as the picture box in Opus.

Reduce the image size by a couple of pixels and this should solve the problem.

I believe it's caused by publishing to flex.
I tried creating several circles on a page, as a normal opus pub. When run, or published, the circles were pretty near perfect.
If I then change the type to Flex and run..... the circles looks OK, BUT when it's PUBLISHED and opened in a browser or run in Flash player, the circles have the distinct peak at NSEW. Look slightly like a 50p piece, but with just 4 peaks. It's like an anti-aliasing effect, the way the circle is rendered in flex. The larger the circle, the less apparent the distortion.

I also tried inserting an image in the flex pub, which was a screen grab of the Opus page.
When published, the circles of the image were not distorted. The circles still look round?

I think you found an image was still distorted??

Sandy

Hi Keith,

Have sent you and email but also tried this again in flex this morning and the circle seems smooth.

BTW, have you published this with the flash update from DW, as I can no longer access your logo using Flash 9.0?

Hi everyone, thanks for your interest in this problem. I have applied the preload.as file again and the page opens up ok.

Hi, think I might have found a solution - not sure why this works but here goes:

1. In Serif Drawplus I created a rectangle with transparent fill & line.
2. I then created a blue line circle inside the rectangle.

The result is by far the best I have been able to achieve. See what you think.

Keith --

Yes, your latest efforts to create a "perfect" circle looks better than your previous attempts. Congrats! Did you try to just create a circle in a graphics program like PSP with a background the same as in your Pub, then use a Graphic Object in OPUS to display it? Maybe it's the "Flex" issue.

Are you near the offices of DW? I stopped in to visit while in the UK about a year ago. Great people!!!

I looked at the logo Keith sent me.

This issue is caused by the actual image filling the entire canvas. There needs to be a small bleed area to avoid this fuzziness.

Mack.
