I updated my Flash player this morning, and then got on the web and went to my website. A large part of the front page on my website is a flash production made with Opus 5.5, and now that does not work anymore. To make sure that it was not my site, but rather the updated flash player, I got on my work computer (which has not been updated with the new flash player) through remote management, then went to my site and everything worked fine.

I'm thinking that this is something Adobe Flash has done to prevent other flash productions from running that was made outside of the flash software. In other words, flash productions made with software like Opus.

Did Digital Workshop know this was pending? Is there a patch for Opus to correct this Flash update?

FYI: The flash production at DigitalWorkshop.com (at the top of the page) will not work either using Flash Player v10

Dave,

I see no zip file when I go to the link you've provided. Also, you say on the linked page that the fix is for flex, will that also cover the pro version?

Sorry, I've changed the forum permissions so you can download it now.

It'll work for all versions.

Dave,

Thanks to all of you at DigitalWorkshop. The fix was very easy and I had everything up and running in no time. I've been using Opus/Illuminatus since 1998 10 years now. I have been and continue to be impressed with the great job you've all done.

I did a little searching outside of the Opus forum. It seems folks who use Adobe/Macromedia tools are having various problems with Flash Player 10.

Just visit http://www.actionscript.org/index.php and do a search flash player 10.

For example:

Flash player 10 detection error
Hi,

I have a site that's been running well for 6 months but now i'm hearing reports that users who have downloaded Flash Player 10 aren't able to view the Flash files on the site. I have read that there's some issues which the embed tag will sort but as my Flash is pulled for a CMS (Php) it's difficlut for me to change they way it works. Is there a away to amend the code below so it works with Flash player 10?

Thanks for any help as this is a nightmare!

Quote:
Flash Player 10 runs content for ver. 9
I am in the process of creating a project, and i thought i would install Flash Player 10 since it's out. But after i installed, when i try to view my project on a browser it gets stuck on frame 1 (the preloader frame). Before Flash Player 10 it worked fine. Even now, if i test it in the CS3 IDE it works, since it uses Flash Player 9 there...
I am completely baffled cause i am sure these things are backwards-compatible but i can't see what i'm doing wrong.
... [another user] I installed the Debug version of Flash Player 10 to see what's going on. I think all in all Flash Player 10 is more "Strict". In my case (see code above) i get an Unhandled Error "Error 2044"...This of course was not thrown before. And now i'm looking for the way to fix it

The situation may be that DW can do very little to 'fix' something that is inherent in Adobe's product roadmap/execution.

I've been using Shockwave for 12 years and Flash for 6 years. Everytime a new browser plugin is "updated" developers sit there and sweat waiting for things to break. That's the way it is when you rely on a frequently updated plugin.

Read above... My post was on Oct the 18th and they had it fixed then already. Dave had a link for the fix, and I had my site fixed before DW had their own site fixed.
