Hi Mike,

If I remember correctly, the purpose of you using the plugin is to keep file sizes to a mininum. It should be possible therefore to use a decent installer program to 'wrap' your Plexus file into the installer with a check for the presence of the plugin and then download it automatically from a specific location - or at least stop the install if the plugin is not detected.

That way, the actual Plexus if never launched until a plugin is detected. Adavnced Installer has some fantastic options for this - but whether they are available in the free edition is another matter. Their company support is also excellent and I'm sure they'd advise you on what is possible.

Regards,

Mack

Excellent suggestion. I currently use Inno Setup Compiler, but hadn't thought of your solution. I'll check out Inno and see if I can use it. If not, I'll check Advanced Installer. I don't have to have the free edition, if it will do this.
Thanks a bunch for all your help!
Mike

I'm bring this up again, because there is an up[date in my situation and I have a question to ask DW.

DW,
We might soon be hosting the tutorials online, so I would be exporting to web pub. Would it be possible for you to simply put the new Plexus plugin at the same path and name as the old one, so that when someone tries to launch a pub made in 5.5, the plugin will give them the choice to install or cancel the plugin install? I do not want my clients to be forced to install the plugin, which is what the old version of the plugin does.

Thanks,
Mike

You might want to send DW support an email. If it's really important to you, send email to 'sales' and ask sales to forward/make sure support/development got it.

I am guessing that DW folks are busy with other priorities, and not keeping up on the forum or on emails to support... based on emails I sent a week or so ago and previously in ~Feb (about problems/bug) that went unacknowledged.

Thanks a bunch for the tip. I've also experienced issues in the same area. I had never thought of sending it through sales, but it does make good sense.
Thanks again,
Mike

Anyone who might be reading this can ignore the bit about the cancel button not working on the internet for web pubs. It does work. It's the plugin download for the Plexus powered .exe version that has the cancel button issue.
