I'm in the middle of a new project which requires 14 separate databases. As I have started to create these databases I have found a different procedure of naming the queries to make it simpler, so I would like to delete the queries that are in the drop down list and create newly named queries. I can do that by creating new queries, but that does not clear out all of the old queries and there are too many. It's getting too cluttered.

So my quetion is... How do you delete or clear out these old queries in the dropdown list? I've done a search of the registry to find out they are not there.

I haven't used databases for a while now, but I think it's in the properties of that publication? (Ctr+R > last tab > 'Database')

Thanks for your reply JezJones, but that only gives the option to delete the database itself, which would repropagate once the database was called on by a query. It does not give the option to delete created queries for the database though.

Hi Denn,

In theory, Opus automatically removes the query if you remove the DB Query action associated with that query. It should also be removed if you simply change the name of an existing query.

Because of this, I don't think there is a manual way to achieve this if something goes awry except taking a hex editor to the IMP.

Hello Mack, it's good to hear from you again.

I have done everything I can think of, including deleting the query and starting the query over. I have also deleted the Data Source under the Database Tab in Properties and It still remains. I guess I could go in with a hex editor, run a search, and delete them that way, but I'm half way through with the program and don't won't to screw something up. I would have to completely start over to get them out and I'm not willing to do that. I suppose Opus never foresaw this need.

I started out without giving enough thought into how I was going to name the queries, then I saw how I could do it and make it simpler, but I have about 14 queries that are just in my way now, so I guess I'll have to live with them.

BTW, once the query is in the drop down list, the program will not let you change the name of the query. You can of course create a new query, but that does not get rid of the old ones.

Thanks for your input Mack...
Denn

Hi Denn,

It does seem you're stuck with them. the only way I could remove/ hid them was by blank the first character with a 00 (hex). Everything seem okay, but as you say it's a risk for a development program.

Perhaps we could wish list this or offer free courses in SQL so that everybody uses Opus script :-)
