Could you please post the example as it will help us see what's different.

Here is example of panel Layout .imp file.

Built in OpusPro v64.
Displays in a Window. I don't remember results with 'Display Fullscreen'. I was trying to eliminate the scrollbars in Panels. Way too much trouble so I stopped development there.
I only have tested in Preview mode.

Thanks Mackavi and Lar1_2_3 for your inputs. It has all just got worse here as even in a window one panel now fails to display at all in spite of trying a whole combination of settings. I tried the prog in V5.5 but got the same result.

When I link the chapter to the screen layout I do not get a "Main Publication panel" in the drop down list. but I get a choice of 4 panels. The programme has never has this setting as I am only using 3 panels.

So my "fix" no longer works and I don't know where I go from here!

As you were! Panic over.

I have got the frame working again so back to the full screen issue. Thanks for the 4 screen example. I tried publishing your example full screen without the frame and it did not work either. So at the moment frames are in folks!

By "frame" I think you mean "Window".

The pub example I posted had some specific measurements to lay it out. I'm not surprised it fails somewhere.

What is your PC's display resolution? Compare that against the Custom page size settings I used. Maybe go back and use some very conservative VGA, SVGA level sizing for a Pub and divide further for page sizes.

My experience with Opus generating panels is this: when I stick to very basic 3 panel layout and used simply percentage allocation. It worked both in 'Fullscreen' and in 'Window'. If the page size set by a Chapter was larger (in pixels) than the panel size, Opus I think would just scale the contents to fit (yet maintaining aspect of the chapter-page). I don't remember exactly, but it seemed 'simple'.

Once I started changing panel allocations around, all bets were 'off'. Using 'Absolute' instead of Percentage had its advantages, but of course did not look too good when I changed the PC's display resolution (to emulate what different client machines might see). My basic is 1280 x 960. (hell, I can't read things at 1680 x 1050)

Ultimately, graphics chipsets and DirectX routines may play a part in this. A cheap test might be to 'roll-back' the graphics driver and then reinstall the new or latest driver after reboot. (or similarly uninstall the graphic adapter and let it reinstall on reboot).

If you want "Panels" on a Main Page, go to Edit - Publication Properties -> Layout.

Download my sample and see if this is the direction you want to go...

Evening Fred,

Have you tried this published? Does it work, as it fails in the same way as Jez's publication does on my machines.

Jez - it seems that the publications are failing to maximize. If you use a third party application and force the publication's process to maximize then it's fine. Based on this, it should be possible to create a workaround if it's vital to have it running full screen but there is definitely something amiss that needs fixing in Opus.

Mack

Mack --

You are right (as usual). I only tested my sample in PREVIEW where it works fine. It Publishes without errors, but nothing happens when you try to run it... Too bad. Maybe DW can figure out WHY it doesn't work.

With Mack, Fred, Lars & Paul looking into your problem, you can't be in better hands.

Or someone who knows strict parents. Or maybe simply "Ctrl-Z".

Well I just made one change to the 4-panel sample Pub. Changed the Pub properties >>> Window Tab to "Display Fullscreen". Then published as Web Publication.

It displayed in Firefox as all background / blank.
Then I went to the latest download of the Plexus Plugin and INSTALLED that.
Back over in Firefox did a 'Reload/Refresh' and the pub displayed correctly... albeit with panels having scrollbars now.

Hi Jeremy,

Here's a rather naff workaround, but a workaround at least.

Copy the attached max.exe into the published folder and add the following line to a script at the start of your publication:

LaunchFile(SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR+"max.exe",GetPublication().GetName())

It does nothing fancy, simply gets the window name of your publication and forces it to maximise. I had though that Opus' own max function would have done this, but no joy.

Mack

Firstly thanks to Demofred, Lar_123, Mackavi and Nitro for your posts. I have looked at the downloads and tried everything out that I can do but as some of you have experienced the same problems on your systems, this looks beyond fixing at the moment. So I will publish the frames in a window, which then brings up the issues of changing from 1024 x 768 to a more laptop friendly resolution.

I can just about live with that but I need to get this product out on the streets, as I have another similar one waiting for development and that will have the same screen issues.

I also wish to deny any connections with the military as I never got paid for wearing a uniform, but I did once have very nice sailor suit!

Again many thanks.

Hi all,

Sent an email to DW this morning explaining the problem. They are going to pass this on to the development team to look into the issue.

Mack
