Anyone ever heard of "Structured Exception: c0000005 processing input" before? I have been working for two weeks on a project. All of a sudden I tried to publish my program and got that error code. I also have errors saying that it cannot open files which are in the resource folder where they are supposed to be. I have checked to make sure that these files are not read only and can be changed. The really bad part is that my backup file and autosave file give me the same errors. I thought that I might need to reinstall Opus, but before I did I tried publishing a different program and was able to do so without incident.

So... does anyone know what the error is and what it is caused by? I am dead in the water until I can find what this error means and what has caused it.

Also, I should mention that I can open the imp files in Opus and everything works fine. No problems at all, but even though it works fine in the editor it will not publish. It’s very frustrating. I could understand if the imp file would not open, then I could understand that it's corrupted, but if it's working in Opus Pro, why would it not publish?

Hi Denn,

IMPs that preview but don't publish are not that uncommon.

I'd start by eliminating resource issues. This could be

1. resources not in use;
2. resources that won't publish - remember that certain file types get converted during publishing and the conversion might fail for a badly encoded file.
3. resources that have been called by different methods - IE load through a script and action.

A quick way to help eliminate resource issues is to turn off all compression and see if that helps.

Hello Mack,

I did a little more research last night (here in the U.S.) and found a lot more that I didn't know about this particular problem. I also saw where someone had posted a project for Graham Baglin to download and look at. The strange thing was that Graham had no problem publishing the project on his computer, which told me that it could be the Opus program on my computer needs to be re-installed. So I put the whole program on a flash drive and brought it to work this morning. So far it has published every time without incident, so right now I'm thinking that the Opus program itself might be corrupted and needs to be reinstalled... which I'll do tonight and post the results back here.

Thanks again Mack...

Denn

Mack,

I completely un-installed Opus tonight and did a re-install and it made NO difference. I also did as you suggested and took the compression off of everything while I was trying to publish, so the bottom line is this, Opus is completely useless to me until I can get this problem fixed and I have no idea what it is.

So come on Dave, Robin, Brenden, Graham, and Duncan… Please let me know what I can do to fix this. You guys are the Pros that built this wonder program. I’m not asking that you fix it for me, only that you give me some idea of what to look for. This year is the 11th year of using Illuminatus and Opus for me. I have (including new versions of the same program) OVER 150 programs I have created with Illuminatus and Opus. In fact, I’m right in the middle of creating a new recipe program. I have almost a hundred hours into it and can’t finish, so please guys… HELP.

A little up to date info here. I downloaded ver 6 and tried to publish through it to see what would happen. First of all it published all the way through, but still had all of the errors, all 196 of them. I forgot to mention that with 5.5 it would hang up the computer after about 70 errors. So the fact that 6 at least did publish was somewhat of an improvement even though the only thing that can be seen in the program is the information in the data fields.

All of the errors are text and graphics/pictures. I'm a graphic artist and do my own graphics using mostly .png format with some jpegs and .bitmaps.. Not one png formatted picture or one text file was processed.

On all of the png formatted pictures I got this error...
Cannot open file (Path:\)QuestionMark-1.png

On all of the text files I got this error...
Structured Exception: c0000005 processing Text 144

... and of course I got one error per file. I don't have a clue as to what would cause only png and jpeg graphics and text files not to publish, and allow the bitmaps (.bmp) and databases (.mdb) to publish.

Install Opus on another computer and see if it works. If so it's likely that something has corrupted some part of the OS on your problem computer; the fix for that is to reinstall Windows.
This has happened to me several times.

Thanks Paul,

I actually took the program that I’m in the middle of building now to work on a 4 gig thumb drive. I have Opus installed there too. It published without incident. I've saved re-installing my operating system (XP pro) as a "last resort" kind of thing to do. I have almost two terabytes of hard drive space including 9 partitions. I have no idea how many programs I've installed and use constantly since I'm graphic artist, video editor, sound editor and developer I use dozens of programs. So the thoughts of having to re-install all of my programs over (because of losing the registry) makes me cringe. I know I could save the registry and reinstall it, but I suppose the problem could be there too. I have learned from past mistakes and have only my operating system on C drive, so I wouldn’t lose any data files. However, Opus is so important to me that if it comes down to re-installing my operating system I will, but I’m hoping that there will be a better option.

Hi Denn,

1. Is this a problem with all IMPs that you try and publish or just this specific one.

2. Is it possible to compress this and uploaded it somewhere that so that we can have a look at it?

Two things to try - firstly, use something like Sysinternals Process Viewer to kill all unnecessary process stripping windows back to the bare essentials and then try to publish. Also, get hold of a memory checker and run this. It's a long shot but a problem writing to RAM might cause your problem.

Mack,

Ok... I think I know where the problem is, but there is something I just don't understand and maybe you can help with this. I found a very large program that I had done in the past and republished it with no problems. My up to date recipe program is still doing the same with all of the errors, but the other imp published well. Here is what I don't understand and what has been throwing me off with my reasoning of the problem. The imp with all of the problems will publish on my computer at work, but has 196 errors here at the house. So I was thinking there is either something wrong with my computer or the Opus program. Since the other program (which is quite large like I said) publish ok, then I can't see where it could be the computer or the Opus program. So I think at this point that it is my IMP file, but how can it be if it publishs OK at work? Oh yeah, I found a much older imp of the recipe program (from 1-4-09) and it published without any problems too. So I see I have my work cutout for me. I've just wound up losing about 80 hours work.

I would be glad to zip the program and leave you a link, but the program with all of the files is close to 7 meg. Please let me know if you just want to view the IMP or if you want me to zip everything for you.

Thank you again Mack for your time and help!

Denn,

Maybe, just maybe... take a look at the differences between the two systems. Specifically the Directory/Path where Opus v6.x is installed. Also have you tried publishing on the "trouble system", but using .imp and files from the Thumb Drive (assuming all the resources are there)?

Have you tried sending a copy of your publish/error log to DW support?

Good luck, hope easy success.

Morning Denn,

Isn't the logic of debugging fun :-). 7mb isn't a problem - my last client had multiple PDF resources that were much bigger than that.

Send me a link and I'll take a peek.

For those of you who were keeping up with this thread, Mackavi fixed the problem. It was a corrupted imp file and somehow Mack was able to fix it and have it ready for me the very next day.

Bravo Mack, Once again you've saved someone's day!!!
In this case you've saved me two weeks work. Therefore... 2 Thumbs Up!
