Opus: Pro 7.6

System: Vista 64, HP, 6GB RAM. Basically "Out of the box" with no special graphics. Very robust.
Hi There,

Greetings from Sunny California !

I've been using Opus Pro 6.1 for some time, now....

I received the Pro 6.4 update awhile back, but I didn't install it until yesterday.......

I'm trying to use the Opus Video Creator feature....

I'm able to record my presentation, but when I publish it, it completes the first publishing portion, but in the next step, when it should begin the actual creation of the video, I get the following message:

==============================
ilmplay.exe

Application failed to start because DWFile2.dll was not found.
Reinstalling application may fix the problem.

==============================
Then I get the following second message:

Installation corrupt, cannot find DWDSVideo.dll

=============================

From this point, on, my IMP is destroyed; when I try to open it, I get a
Runtime Error, Opus.exe

==============================

So, I've removed, and reinstalled everything several times, including
manually deleting registry keys, etc, and it still fails.

I've reinstalled 6.1, and the Video Creator works okay.

Is this a problem with 6.4 ? Is anyone using it for Video Creation ?

Or is it an installation problem ? Maybe the update file is bad.

Thanks,
Steve Hawley

====================================
I have an XP Home, with 1.5GB RAM, and 320GB drive, Athlon Processor.
I've been using this same machine for several years.

Hi Steve,

Tried this with a basic publication under 6.4 and it was fine.

I'd suggest that you try a very simply publication with recording and see if that works.

Hi Mack,

I trimmed my pub down to the minimum, and it still fails.

I tried moving the DW .dll's from the Opus folder, to the System32 folder, and the error messages changed; instead of missing DWFile2.dll, I was now missing DWFile42....

It also corrupts the Imp file, which is obviously dangerous.

I received an email from DW support saying that this is the second such report that they have received.

I suppose it could have something to do with my machine, except the 6.1 version works fine.

I'll follow-up with a post when they resolve the issue..

Thanks for your reply; at least I know that it works properly.

Steve

Hi Steve,

I might be wrong, but did you trim the broken publication? If so it might be worth creating a simply publication from scratch and testing this.

Also if you can send me the imp, I'll try publishing it here - but you'll probably need to zip the entire folder.

Hi Mack,

I see what you're getting at....

I'll reinstall 6.4 and give that a try and get back to you...

Hi Mack,

Here is a simple two page IMP; it's about ten seconds long..

I created it fresh using 6.4, and it still fails.

Regards,
Steve

Sorry, I posted two files, accidentally; the files are identical...

Hi Steve,

My bad - hadn't realised that the the publication was video creator and was simply adding a recording of mouse / kb data.

You are indeed correct that under the correct type this fails with the DLL issues.

I'd guess that Opus is pointing to the DLLs in the wrong place. You can solve this by copying all the DLLs in the error messages (there's five of them) to the system32 folder in windows.

DWFile2.dll
DWDSVideo.dll
Dwfc42.dll
gfxlib.dll
Jffdw.dll

You should find all five DLLs in the Opus directory.

Hope it helps,

Mack

Hi Mack,

That did resolve the issue; obviously there is some problem with the
DW installer program.

Thanks very much for your help !

Hi Mack,

As a follow-up, DW Support sent me a new file, DWDSVideo.dll, that also
resolved the issue.

This was installed in the Opus folder.

I removed the files from the System32 folder, and all works fine...

Thanks again..

Steve
