Hi there,

For the life of me, I cant seem to get a standard USB joystick to work with Opus 6.0

Is there some kind of script needed? - I dont have a game port card on any of my machines so the older type of joysticks I have are pretty useless.

What Im looking at is using a Joystick trigger for a simple program that counts a persons heart rate by measuring the pulse. ( or BPM ).

It works fine when I use the left mouse button as an input ( sensor ) - but I need to get a USB input to move on from here. - any ideas?

Thanks in advance fellas.

Rick.

can you explain a bit more about how you use a joystick to measure heart rate??

Ok, well its pretty simple actually...

Im using a mouse button to simulate a heart beat or (pulse).

What I WANTED to do ( is use an old joystick ) and use the wires on the end ( the fire button connection actually ) - to send a ( trigger ) to Opus and then calculate in a 60 second timeframe...what the expected number of ( fire button triggers ) ...or ( pulses ) would be.

As I said Im using a mouse button at the moment to simulate what the joysticls fire button should be doing ( well actually, it SHOULD be an adhesive pad stuck to the body which would be located along an arterial line. )

So, I notice that there are some users in here that have created things like cash draws and things that use USB ( I think ) to work with Opus. - Im wondering how this interaction is performed using a USB...because these days...com-port style joysdticks are so out of date...and my motherboard dosent support them.

If ANYBODY out ther has managed to get a USB joystick ( or other USB device ) to talk to opus...P_LEASE let me know how the heck it can be achieved.... my left index finger is wearing out .

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,
It depends what kind of USB device you are trying to communicate with and what are you trying to do. Can you give more information?

Hi, I'm glad that you answered. This is a simple device with 5 buttons: back, forward and 1, 2, 3 Keyboard Test 1, 2, 3, is answering questions in Opus. (assumption)
This is not a hardware plug and play, I have the drivers for it. I read the decimal, and I have such a button is 30, a 96-button 2, button 3 is 102, the next is 24 and the back is 6

The driver installs a device on com port, but I have no communication with the Opus. If you were able to be read by Opus data from the device and save to disk is super but I can not.

Drivers for USB-to-Serial Device Technology Inc. is a Prolific.

Sending the driver inf file.

I will be grateful for any hint.
