Hi Craig
I would like to add a further comment to what I consider your unnecessarily disparaging comment that Robin's response was 'a silly long winded way of doing it'.
You may not agree with nor like the response. That's your right. My experience over the years of dealing with DW Support (and Robin in particular) is that
all of the responses are well-researched, practical and usually right on the button (pun intended!)
The few times they have missed the point has invariably resulted from an unclear explanation from me.
As I become more experienced with using Opus I am contunually surprised by the variety of methods by which different people can design varying means of successfully solving the same problem. Some might work better than others,
but none of them is silly!
Now back to your comment: 'a silly long winded way of doing it'.
Robin has been helping me for years, and he has
never suggested a solution that was 'silly'. That epithet cannot justly be assigned to Robin's attempt to help you.
Sure it might appear to be 'long-winded' the first time you implement it,
BUT... have you ever considered copying your working result into a gallery where a simple click on an image will immediately paste this 'long winded' solution into new pubs? If you haven't investigated galleries, I would recommend that you consider doing so.
There is another important implication in your original post (and other posts that appear in the Wishlist) and in your response.
Opus is a fantastic program that is capable of producing complex multimedia publications. It is simple (well, sometimes
) to use. I remain amused by the number of people who admit that they left other MM authoring programs because these were not suitable to their needs or abilities. Macromedia applications are often mentioned. Despite this, these same people who originally appreciated the simplicity of Opus now want to add more and more features that might well result in slower performance and less stability for Opus.
Beware of program bloat!
Finally, I would like to emphasise that I really appreciate the time Robin and other DW staff spend on helping me with my problems.
