I am writing a decrypter utility at the moment, it needs to read many .TXT files (which are encrypted) and then place the data into a database. Most of this I can do.

I don't think Opus can rename files nor know how many files are in a specified folder, so I have had to ask the user to rename them or use CKRename on all necessary .TXT files to something like 0001.txt, 0002.txt etc. Then I have to include an input box so the user can tell the utility how many .TXT files to decrypt and place in the database.

I am interested to know if this can be automated further, so the Opus utility knows how many files there are, and can rename them or open wildcard style itself.

The filenames are pre-named by whoever uses the previous software that collected the data, i.e. username userdate.txt, for example. I cannot pre-name the TXT files to a known filename, as many will have to co-exist in one folder, in order to be decrypted, so they cannot all be called userdata.TXT.

I cannot use internet databases as I have no experience of internet programming, nor do I have a server.

The Opus I have is Opus Pro XE (2002).

Hi Steve,

We use a custom DLL to do this behind the scenes but you'd need Opus 6 for that function.

There has been discussion before about an ad lib method of using either a bat file or maybe autoIT or a VBS script. Each has it's pros and cons and will depend on your end user audience.

Mack

As Mack said there have some some previous posts.
1-- do a Search on directory list (search all terms). You'll find a possible utility to generate a list of filenames and use in Opus, perhaps list them in a Listbox object.
2-- I think Opus can either rename some files or perhaps read-in and write out with a different name?

OpusPro v6 has really rounded out the feature set.
