I think the Autosave feature currently saves every 5 minutes if that is what my options settings are. I think it will generate that 'saved duplicate file' even if I just did a manual Save only 4 seconds ago. True?

So I'd like to have that changed to be a 'relative interval', i.e., 5 minutes after the last save.

The only reason I even bring this up is I am experiencing frequent Opus hangs. The 'hang' occurs when I single-click or double-click on a different Page over in the Organizer. The hourglass cursor appears, CPU percent goes to approx. 50%, and if I click anywhere in the Editor/Workspace I am prompted to Close the Program or Check for a Solution, etc.

When I re-launch the Opus app, I notice that under the Undo icon, there are 4 entries... 'changed data path' (same situation if I 'accepted' the autosaved file, or clicked 'no'). Not significant in itself, but is part of what leads me to suspect some timing issue.

I like Autosave and it has saved my butt many times over.

And maybe the problem is not inside Opus. Perhaps I have some other, strange conflict with AV (ESET Nod32).

(posted here as I figure DW gets around to reading this section at some time)

Hi Lars

I have the same problem with V6. I have a publication that I can edit quickly and freely in V5, but when I open it in V6 the application hangs when clicking on a different page in the organiser. I thought it may be a memory issue, as it is occassionally OK. It is also OK if I delete most of the pages in V5 and open again in V6 (this isn't a solution - just a test).

I only use V6 for the timed evaluation, so I have to work in V5 and publish in V6. It's a pain though, so would like a solution.

PC
Vista SP1
Intel Core 2 duo 2.33GHz
32 bit
2GB Ram
Opus uses about 180mB when running

Any ideas yet?
Cheers
Dan

I don't want to 'distract' from the original Wishlist topic regarding autosave and hangs...

but it may be worthy to note some other contributors to 'odd behaviours' in Opus editor. When I migrated from Win XP to Vista 32, I had some problems with pubs in editor and in Preview (not running right or getting lost as if the files or objects were not there, high cpu hang... etc.)

In short, I found SUCCESS by bringing over an OpusPro 5 / 5.5 / 6.0 Backup zip file. i.e., use the backup files I had saved on the old machine over on Vista... unzip and open in Opus there. Clean running for some reason.

demofred has mentioned the ResourceManager as a savior... that also helped for certain situations. (if I recall, part of my issue with v5.5 to v6.x was that I did not use the default path for installing OpusPro v6 (I made it opus_v64 or something, and that through things off)).

Better to convert all pubs to v6.4 I think.
