Hello,
I found yet another web pub issue:

Clicking the download plugin icon gives this message:

"Can't Find Suitable Icon" and plugin doesn't download.

OS: XP
Browsers: FireFox and IE
Opus Version: Opus 6 Trial

I'll also email this to Tech Support.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

You certainly seem to have had your fair share of Plexus problems. You didn't say whether this was your machine or a client's?

As far as I can tell, anything published as a web publication under v6.4 will not run (IO error) until you download the manual plexus file or cleaned out the files installed with Opus.

Have a look in Program Files / Common Files / Digital Workshop / IO Opus Player.

Bin all the files from that directory.

When you then try to run an 6.4 publication, it should download with the new interface and everything should work. If your file is published with an older version of Opus, this may very well not work.

Hi Mack,
Thanks for replying again. The issue on my associate's laptop again. What we discovered yesterday is that, like you said, the only way to get consistent results with web pubs is to install the plugin manually. And actually, the versions older than 6.4 work with the newer plugin, as well. That really surprises me.

Glad that bit works at least.

I think if you do clear out the files in the folder above, you should also get a clean install with the web download. I've run it several times and it worked each time.

From what I can tell, the path set in the HTML file calls the ILM500.cab file from DW (or where you specify) and this contains the OCX that launches the download screen for the main DLLs that come from DW and end up in the folder above.

The DLLs with the latest version of Opus are not the same as the ones downloaded from the OCX or Plugin and they also don't work which would be a bit disconcerting for anybody trying to use a web publication with the files from a full Opus installation of 6.4.

My associate doesn't have Opus installed on her laptop, so those files weren't present when she tried auto download. The manual download was the only thing that worked. But she's on Vista, and I think it has something to do with her UAC settings.

I wonder why they made it that way? The Adobe Flash plugin process is very smooth - couldn't they have followed that process?
