Using the CD-R Wizard everything seems to work well until the Wizard tries to open it's second page... thats when the system freezes (and OPUS needs to be crashed)

Any suggestions or help is highly appreciated.

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry.

You do not state which software you are using, but I assume you are using Opus Pro 04 or Opus Pro XE 04. If so, please try the following steps:

Please first uninstall all versions of Opus from your system. To do this, click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Look through the list of installed programs for any references to Opus Presenter 04, Opus Pro 04, Opus Pro XE 04, Illuminatus Opus, Illuminatus Opus Pro, Opus Pro XE or Opus Presenter. If found, click on the entry to highlight it, then click the Remove button to uninstall the software.

Once all versions of Opus have been uninstalled, please right-click on your Start button and select Explore... Navigate to C:\Program Files and look for any folders referring to Opus Presenter 04, Opus Pro 04, Opus Pro XE 04, Illuminatus Opus, Illuminatus Opus Pro, Opus Pro XE or Opus Presenter. If found, simply click on the folder to highlight it, then press Delete on the keyboard.

Once all Opus program folders have been deleted, click Start > Run, type regedit and click OK. Double-click on the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder to display its contents. Double-click on the Software folder to display its contents. Now single-click on the Digital Workshop folder to highlight it and press Delete on the keyboard. Click Yes to confirm the deletion. Now please close the Registry Editor using the X icon in the top-right of the screen.

Now insert your Opus Pro 04 or Opus Pro XE 04 CD-ROM (or run the downloaded setup file) and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the software. Once installed, please click on the following link to download Service Release 3:

ftp://ftp.digitalworkshop.com/pub/opusu ... 04_SR3.exe

If you are prompted to Open or Save the file, please click Save and select the Desktop as the target location. Once the download has completed, please minimise all open windows to display the Desktop and double-click on the file named Opus_04_SR3.exe to install the update.

Once the installation is complete, please launch Opus Pro XE 04, load in your publication and test to see if the CD Wizard now works without problems.

If the problem persists, I suspect that there may be a service running in the background which is hogging access to the CD writer. The most likely culprit is packet-writing software such as Roxio DirectCD or Ahead InCD (which come supplied with Roxio Easy CD Creator and Ahead Nero respectively). If you suspect that this applications may be installed on your system, please try the following procedure to disable the packet-writing service and see if this resolves the problem. Please rest assured that disabling the packet-writing service will not affect the operation of Ahead Nero or Easy CD Creator and this service is only designed for use with CD-RW discs.

- Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs

- Look in the list of installed programs for an entry relating to "DirectCD" or "InCD". If found, please left-click on the entry to highlight it, then click the Remove button and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall. If you cannot find a "DirectCD" or "InCD" entry, please look for an entry relating to "Easy CD Creator" or "Ahead Nero". If found, click on the entry to highlight it, then click Remove and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall

- Once uninstalled, I would recommend restarting your computer

- When Windows reboots, please launch Opus and using the CD Wizard. You should now be able to burn to the disc without problems

- If you had to uninstall the entire Easy CD Creator or Ahead Nero software, you should now be able to reinstall the software from the original CD-ROM and specify that DirectCD or InCD is not included in the install.

I hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.

Kind regards,
